New stainless series 70 only 100 made???

there seems to be a new stainless series 70 out with this description:

COLT Series 70 Government .45 ACP 5 Inch National Match Barrel Stainless Steel Bead Blast Finish Night Sights Black Laminate G10 Grips 7 Round
Series 70 With Night Sights
Original Series 70 firing system. Custom reproduction from the Colt Custom Shop. Steel receiver and steel slide material. G10 Checkered grips. Checkered trigger guard. Features night sights, spurred hammer and Custom Shop tuned trigger. National Match barrel, lowered and flared ejection port. Upswept grip safety; single side tactical thumb safety. Full beveled mag well. Dehorned. All bead blast finish.

ITEM #: O1070A1CS-C

I will actually be picking up one of these tomorrow as I've been on a bit of a Colt kick lately. It has been extremely difficult to find any information about this specific model online other than the info that I've listed and the fact that only 100 were made. Is it a dealer exclusive or something Colt just put out out of nowhere? Has anyone on here heard anything about these?!?!?!

Ever been in a gun shop that didn't have msrp on everything?
Maybe even marked it over that due to its rarity?
I'd say dealer cost is probably around $15-1600ish which would be fair for a 100 only Colt model I think. Definitely looks like a nice gun. And it seems to have same Pete Single checkering that the Clapp guns have. It's been quite some time I think since Colt made full size series 70 slides and frames.

Crap another rare Pony to seek....

Mods my mortgage company would like you to delete this thread ASAP.......

But I do wonder why if it is truly a 1 of 100 why the serial number doesn't reflect that like the SS Clapp Commanders do.
The gun depicted has quite a long number on it?

I have to ask.

Since this is the same gun in your first pic

http://www.gunbroker.com/item/600467411

For $300 less than the tag on the other one in second pic which one are you getting and how much did you pay?

And here's a second one also on Gunbroker for $1700 that says '1 of 100 of a special production order for Accusport'. So it seems to have been requested by them and not a true Colt custom shop decision.

http://www.gunbroker.com/item/598976284

But they must have JUST been released for two of a hundred to still be on gunbroker?

They have been out for several weeks now. Don't seem to be moving that fast. Buds has had them in stock for a while.

Even more interesting. Price must be steering folks towards Dan Wessons or maybe stretching them to a Les Baer?

Wonder why a 1 of 100 special edition order wouldn't immediately sell out otherwise?

The guys in the CS shop are damn fine craftsmen and these pistols have a rich set of features. You'd have to go to a Baer Premier II at $200+ more or similar to get a gun of this quality.

For a CS pistol, the MSRP is not at all out of line IMHO. As for a LGS asking for a premium over MSRP, Thou Shalt Haggle

I'd be more than happy to own one of these

CYa!

They only made a hundred of them. You know that you will kick yourself if you let them slip away.

I read the description at Bud's. Colt #O1070A1CS-C. I am wondering what makes it so special to warrant the $1777.00? The description says night sights, it has checkering, beveled mag well, dehorned, trigger job. Just wondering what kind of attention went into the fitting?

Can't afford it right now as I bought a bunch of ammo and a new DW 10mm Bruin.

A series 70 Gold Cup would certainly grab my attention.

Worth it or not,I don't know, But it looks like a nice gun with practical features,i.e., Novaks, front night sight, beavertail, extended thumb safety, checkered front strap, practical stainless bead blast finish, etc. I would doubt that it has any extra attention in fitting of slide, barrel, frame beyond a regular production Colt, whether it comes in a Custom Shop box or not. Considering prices and wait times for quality gunsmithing, were I in the market I'd certainly consider this model....ymmv

Where for art thou.......

Where's he been lately? Haven't seen a post from him in a while? Hope all is well with him?
But before I buy one I'd like to hear more input on the input and amount of customization that went into them as well.
Checkering and special parts. But was any hand fitting or tuning done?

Go to the Colt Web site. Basically the same exact gun with different grips for less than $1000. http://www.colt.com/Catalog/Pistols/Series-70

Reminds me of what I thought the next WC gun should be - a S/S Govt. I like it, as I swap out the thin grips and long trigger on all of the WC guns I have owned.

Bud's has them back in stock at $1,777 but if it were me, I'd add $50 and get a Colt Special Combat. No way the new roscoe will meet the quality of the SCG.

I know I am a tad old and maybe loosing some of my Vision acuity, but those two pictures appear to be of two different pistols!! The Left Thumbnail looks as thought it is Stainless Steel Finish, The Right Thumbnail appears to be either a Black or a Blued Finish!! This is in addition to the bit over price of $1900.00?

When it rains it pours, the new SS WC Commander had finally become available, then that Level III Matte Blue Govt popped up, so when this SS Govt showed up I was already spent. Just a matter of timing, probably the reason they have lingered in inventory a little longer than some suspect they should.

Thought about it for a moment but then a Bruin in .45 had just blown my budget. Turns out I have limits after all, who'd a thunk it.
