I visited the LGS last Saturday looking for an XD in .40, a few things I noticed - they had a metric TON of 9mm hand guns. About half as many .45 as 9mm. And maybe 10 options in stock for .40, with a 10mm that they really really seemed to want to unload. To be honest, I kinda wanted to buy it but...eyes on the prize.

In any case, they told me Springfield Armory is shut down due to the Communist Cough going around. Which means the only thing available is what's was in circulation before they closed up. And they were only able to find one .40 XD in their distribution system. Naturally I told them to get it coming. I don't care that it's two tone, getting rid of shiny silver is what Cerakote is for right?

I know it isn't an RIA, but maybe there's a similar issue at hand. .40 seems to be waning in popularity as far as new gun purchases, and maybe Armscor is temporarily closed for the coof causing short supply.

There are two main groups of people buying 40s these days
- People that want to shoot limited class in USPSA or IPSC
- People that don't really shoot very much, but want a handgun and find trade-in 40s real cheap

Yeah, the FBI recannonizing the 9mm as supreme after their study killed the 40 for law enforcement. Too bad, its a good round but caught between two giants on the market - the 9 and the 45. Its dimensions compete with the 9 but it has recoil of the 45. Power wise it contends with the 45 which is more popular, but the 40’s higher pressures keep the recoil in the 45 arena. Plus market and tooling for the 45 is unending.

Well, I shoot alot, just for fun, no competition, and not looking for trade in. I have a Sig 229 that is a fine weapon, and shoot it often. I simply want a 1911 in 40sw, just for fun, cuz I prefer the 1911 platform.

Just ordered a 1911 Rock Ultra in 40sw. Had to do alot of looking to find one. Actually started to fill out a purchase form, then waited a day. The seller sent an email offering $20 off shipping so I pulled the trigger. Updates when it arrives.
