Hello from Charleroi Pa

Just bought a gold cup, Previse owner called it copper head because of the custom work done on it. copper colored controls: beavertail, extended thumb safety, extended slide release, extended magazine release and matching rosewood checkered grips . Said it was done by King's , What is King's ? Then he said it has Colt National Match barrel, adjustable Elliason sights, adjustable trigger and combat hammer. Internal adjustment tuned by Nelson Ford in Phoenix.

Hello from Charleroi Pa

More than likely, Kingís Gun Works...in Cali...big time gun store and smithing business that probably reached itís peak in the 60í and 70ís....they made and sold custom made 1911 parts...great quality, but most needed custom fitting to your pistol...the business was always good, but reached a new level when Mel Tappin featured them in a book titled Survival Guns in the 70ís...I believe the store changed hands, the smithing let out to another business. New owners may still sell guns under the name Kingís...you might want to Google with what little I have provided...if it truly is an old Kingís, you have a sweet, well done pistol...congrats.

Google Kingís Gun Works, I did, after I suggested it to you...quite a history...If their name is not on the slide, it might be under the grip panels...enjoy...

If you are going to collect, don't be drawn to an example that is not original, nor correct, focus and shoot for top quality and buy the gun not the story.

Hi from North Dakota. Kings Gun Works had been taking customers 1911s and transforming them into world class competition pistols for many years. Unfortunately they closed some years back. In the early '80s I sent a Colt and Norinco to them for conversion to Bullseye and PPC work. Outstanding quality. My son still competes with the Norinco.
