Challis Mounted Grips

I planned on starting a thread of customer's guns wearing Challis grips. It seemed like a good time when I received these pics from a customer inviting me to post them.

Feel free to post your own photos with a few details about the gun and grips.
- Turnbull blue compact Wilson with a round butt magwell
- English walnut grips with gold Wilson medallions

Truly breathtaking!
I have a compact on the way that's kitted almost identical to that

I don't do ivory grips anymore, but this beautiful combination deserves to be seen again, and is a reminder of our friend Army Chief. The gun is a round butt Colt built by John Harrison.

This set was made from a black cherry burl I collected a couple of years ago while visiting my son in Illinois. I don't understand why I haven't sold more sets from the burl. I think it is a fabulous compliment to a black gun. The closer you look the more interesting the grain.

Cherry starts out lighter in color than this set and just gets better and better with exposure to UV light. Final color will be noticeably richer than this set.

Hi Brian,
I hope you like these. Most here have seen them before,

Brian made these grips for me out of Desert Ironwood. They are polished to 12,000 grit. It's not Brians normal oil finish.

Thanks for the post Tim1071. That is some very pretty wood. You have several that you could post.

Hopefully we can get a lot of members to post and create a nice collection

Wow! A fabulous presentation Birdy. Thank you for sharing your amazing photos.

I've often said about my grips, "The closer you look, the better they look." Your close up shots will enable viewers to see the crisp corners, clean lines, precise fit and near flawless finish I spend so much time achieving.

Kind of...

I'm still stuck at work but went to check the mail and the notification was there that they missed me and they would be at the Post Office. Went there and the package was still out with the mail carrier, then I started running calls on the ambulance and couldn't get back by. I'm going first thing in the morning no matter how bad they beat me up tonight!!

Here are some more Desert Ironwood. This pair I bought from Brian unfinished and applied a lacquer finish.
