JMT Sight Pushers

Please see the ad in the classifieds for details and pricing. My work schedule, and therefore my shop schedule seem to be very fluid these days. Methinks my employer is trying to urge me to retire. Got a couple of issues to work out before doing that. Anyway, for the moment, my build/ship days are currently Mon-Wed. Subject to change with little or no notice.

EPJ,

Do you make one that works on both the 1911 and the Browning Hi Power???????

Yes, the Mk lll or Mk lV will work with both. I'd recommend the Mk lll.

We were planning to go camping this week, but due to bad weather and some other issues, we have postponed the camping trip until next week. I'm going to get a batch of tools run today, but when those are depleted there will probably be a weeks delay in making more.

These are not just economical. They flat work, and in many cases will work where the higher priced brands have failed or broken.

Any problems using a mk111 to install tritium front sights? Specifically Novak style on a Springfield Range Officer? Do ya push on the dovetail part of the sight or the blade? I would only be using the tool for 1911's. Thanks for the info.

No problems normally encountered in installing front sights. Depending on the sight design, you may have to push on the blade. Most aftermarket sights have a pretty thick dovetail that can be pushed on directly. Keep in mind that if the sight is properly fitted, extreme pressure is not needed. In some cases it's necessary to push on the blade. This typically is not a problem. I have broken a couple of XD front sights pushing on the blade. The blade did NOT break off. The dovetail broke. These were super tight, and the factory sight is very thin in the dovetail area. The replacement sights went in without any issue. Never heard of a problem on 1911 front sights.

Mk V status: recently I have had several inquiries regarding the upcoming Mk V model. Frankly, I've had it on the back burner for the past several months waiting on time to perfect the design and get a patent application submitted. I hope to "retire" in the next few months,( quit my day job), and had sort of been putting it off until then. I'm coming to realize I will never have more time, or at least no more "spare time". Therefore, as soon as I finish a batch of Mk lll's, I'm going to move the Mk V back to the front burner. Hopefully, I will have at least a couple of pre-production models available within a couple of weeks.
I checked prices on hardware yesterday, and naturally there have been increases. Cost of this tool is going to be right at $100 with shipping. Wish I could do it cheaper, but I still think it's going to be a bargain. Stay tuned for further info. Please check my thread in the Merchants section for updates.

I will continue to honor the sale price thru 9/1. At this time I'm running behind on orders and any further orders will probably ship week of 9/22.

Got everything shipped prior to leaving for vacation. One apparently has fallen victim to the post office, but everyone else who had an order in should have theirs.

Here's an email I recently received from a customer:

"I’ll tell you a little story that I think you’ll appreciate. I’m a reasonably talented amateur gunsmith, but my brother is Certified Master Gunsmith. He had someone (an FFL) bring in a limited addition Colt 1911, new in the box, retails around $2k. The firearm arrived from Colt with the rear sight pushed way over to the right. The FFL had the firearm for a few months, but never put it up for sale because of the rear sight. He had tried brass punches, etc. to try and move it over, but with no luck. He brought it to my brother, who then spent quite a bit of time trying to move the sight over, but he was also not successful. I recommended trying the JMT sight pusher, and it worked flawlessly and only took a few minutes (most of that was making sure we didn’t mar up the firearm."

Got a few mk lll's in stock. Went to the gun show in Huntsville last weekend with a pile of mk lll's and a half dozen mk lv's. The 3's usually outsell the 4's by a wide margin. This time the 4's were gone in a couple of hours and I brought home a handful of 3's. Go figure.

I'll take a mkIII if you still have them in stock. Just let me know where to send payment and I'll get it taken care of tomorrow.
Thanks
Mike

"I've not had much success with sight pushers but heard good things about the one manufactured by Ed Jennings. I've had it for several months now and all I can say is WOW! This one really works and works well. I've adjusted sights on Kimbers (yes, I said Kimbers), Springfields, RIA and Sigs. It is easy to use and the bearing pusher is outstanding. No marks on the slides or sights. I did have to crank on it for the Kimbers but it moved the sights where other pushers failed. I'm very pleased with it."
I can't buy advertising like this.

JMT has added a new product to our line, plugs to replace the lock on newer S&W revolvers. We currently offer plugs for the KLN frames and J frames in both blue and stainless. We will eventually have them for the X frame as well.
