No kids in my house, so I leave either my daily carry G26, which does have night sights, unholstered, on my nightstand. Sometimes I use my G17, also with night sights and Streamlight tlr-1s attached. Both fully loaded with +p+ Ranger 127gr. ammo.

I do own shotguns, but leave them in my safe, unless I'm going hunting. If I did keep a shotgun in the house for defensive purposes, it sure wouldn't be a pump.

It's my duty gun, a Springfield Loaded, cocked and locked with a 200 lumen Surefire flaslight right next to it. It goes to work with me in the morning and to bed with me at night.

Master bedroom is upstairs, so I keep an American Classic Trophy .45 in the nightstand, full mag of JHP, one in the chamber, two full mags in the drawer along with a surefire light. Dogs (Collie and Husky) sleep in the room with me, house has a monitored alarm system with door/window sensors and motion/heat sensors.

My carry gun - SW PD. Full mag in place, unchambered.
I'm not a fan of nightstands. Just toss it under the pillow.

My 1911 lays about 18 inches from my face on my night stand: loaded, 8+1, hammer down on half cock, . . . 2 mags in pouch beside it, . . . AR leaning against nightstand, . . . 30 round mag in place, chamber loaded, on "Safe".

If I'm awakened by B&E sounds, . . . I'll be ready just as soon as I open my eyes, . . . focus, . . . and pick it up.

May God bless,
Dwight

I work the graveyard shift and sleep during the day. My wife and kids are gone during the day so I keep my Kimber Eclipse in condition one in the nightstand.Sadly,my wife is scared of firearms and therefore has no protection while I`m working.Tryin to fix that.

No kids in the house. XD45 w/ TLR-1 chambered, no safety or LW Champ Operator w/ TLR-1 condition 1 on the nightstand. Benelli M2 chambered, safety on, in the safe nearby.

Mossberg Mariner with six .00 BS propped between the nightstand and bedpost, right next to me head and my Ed Brown Kobra Carry condition 1 in the nightstand drawer on my side. Ruger SP-101 in the wife's nightstand drawer. Very bright flashlights in each NS drawer.

When my two young Grandsons are staying with us I remove the rounds from the chambers. Not worth a lifetime of grief. One is almost 4, the other 10 months so they can't rack the 1911 or SG slides yet. Have to adjust my strategy as they grow.

Sincerely,

PastorDW

FNP 45 Tactical with AAC TI RANT loaded with one in the chamber on safe. Light and laser on the gun. But it comes out when I get home and goes back in the safe before I go to work. I have a carry gun when I am out of the house.
