Colt 45 railgun, loaded, chambered, cocked and locked.
Sitting on top of the nightstand, with a 200 lumen LED light on the rail.

It's just me and the wife, the bedroom door is locked, the alarm is on, the 60# night terror is sleeping on the floor at the foot of the bed. She hears everything, and likes to bite when she's protecting us. Anything outside the bedroom door is fair game. First the dog goes out the door, then I follow with the lights and the Colt. If they are lucky enough to get back to the place they came in, they may be lucky enough to see another sunrise. If they are not faster than the dog, and faster than a 230grain XTP, and not so lucky, they will leave in a black bag. I will not take prisoners.

Currently it's a Smith 4006 loaded to the hilt with 180gr Gold Dots. The safety is left on in case I fumble with it in the darkness. The Mossberg 500 with 00 Tactical buck isn't far away either.

Avoid the temptation to replace everything on your brand-new 1911 just to make it "better". Know what you're changing out and why. You may spend a lot of money fixing things that weren't broken to begin with. Shoot at least 500 rounds through it first, then decide what you don't like and want to improve. Regarding vintage 1911s, pre-1946 pistols are highly collectible in original, unaltered condition and should NEVER be refinished or modified as it completely ruins their monetary value.

Got a .45 1911 condition one under the pillow, and a .45 Colt SA on top of the low bookcase three feet from the bed.

Sig P226 .40 S&W (4 clips)
Sig 1911 .45 ACP (6 clips)

Both have mags in, but nothing in chamber. My dog will let me know the moment something goofy starts up, and that gives me plenty of time to rack the slide and protect anyone from coming up the stairs.

Railed 1911 w/TLR2 in condition 1. Stays muzzle down in a pistol rug between mattress and nightstand...easy to reach down and pull it straight out. Wife keeps a 642 in a soft holster slung over the headboard on her side.

Bump in the night scenario dictates that I grab the 1911 and provide cover to the bedroom entrance, while my wife grabs her 642, makes her way to the safe in the closet and gains entry to a house clearing size arsenal.

I dont have a bedside table, so its on the floor. Its in a cheap gun show holster with an extra mag in the holster also.

No night sights though, I should consider that.
Do you mean hammer cocked?

Winchester 1200 defender. If 8 rounds doesn't do the job than I've got the LaRue with a sure fire 60 round mag in the closet. If that doesn't take care of the situation than it's gonna be a national new scenario.
