My kid's high school (Helix in San Diego) was locked down today because of a gunman sighted nearby.

Lockdown was about an hour, until the perp was caught.

I've already instructed her on Run Hide Fight.

Glad it worked out

Parents of the students at my son's school got a similar notice at the beginning of the school year: just across the street from campus, a suspect had his breathing privileges revoked as a result of engaging in a gun fight with six policemen. One valuable lesson my son took away is that physical safety cannot be taken for granted.

The high school is maybe a mile from the murders .
we've done a lot of work in that 'hood

for that matter, I was raised on the other side of the tracks (literally)
In my knucklehead dayz, spent some time at the afterhours joints in that 'hood.
Know the families of the murderer and the victims

it was big news here, as murders aren't common..

Been there...multiple times. Also in San Diego. Once I was driving past the kid's school on my way to run an errand and I see the place was crawling with cops. They have an email alert system and that hadn't even gone off yet. That time it was a bomb threat. It's VERY unsettling.

Glad everyone was ok!
