If you look at the video closely you will see the E.D. was carrying his pistol with an empty chamber... Then when he tried to jack a round into the chamber he kept his hand on the slide and managed to jam the gun...
You clearly see the round jammed in the ejection port and the slide stuck back out of battery... this is a perfect example of why one should NOT carry with an empty chamber...
It sure would have been a good time to have been carrying...
I would have calmly drawn mine and SWISS CHEESED that piece of crap.
He on the other hand would have been squeezing a dead trigger wondering why he was full of holes. What a dipstick. And unfortunately the youth of today are mostly stupid enough to have not noticed his jammed gun either. My 10yr old son would have realized that.
This topic I think it's a bit like beating a dead horse, I would just add once again that although I would agree on carrying cocked and locked, it's completely useless to keep a round ready in the chamber and not be vigilant enough or not be proficient in the use of your pistol.
In my opinion to be "vigilant" also means to be able to profile people approaching you. IMHO

In this instance and video what would you have done differently?
Guy looks like any other customer with his hands in pockets.
Trying to figure out what sandwich he wants.....and then draws a gun.
As a clerk making sandwiches there's not much one could have done differently?
My old style HP safety is low profile & positive enough, that I am not at all concerned about carrying cocked & locked. IMO it is a better safety design than my 1911's - which have a higher profile & are easier to move.
Don't blame the clerk for not noticing. Maybe he did, that's why he was so calm??? Doubt it.
Most on this forum wouldn't have noticed either. If you've never had a gun pointed to your head at very close range, I wouldn't judge. Not a pleasant feeling.
I could be wrong, but didn't the Israelis carry Condition 3 when they carried single actions like the BHP? If so, maybe with proper training it can work because they know what they are doing! Now me on the other hand.......probably not. I carry a j-frame .357 so all I need to do is (call 911!!!), aim, and pull the trigger.
I have a stereotypical theory as to why the clerk was so calm, he was stoned. I speak from experience. I was a teenager in the 70's, and got fired from McD's because I was higher than a kite.
That being said, and I haven't done an illegal drug since the Bears won the Superbowl, that guy would have been toast if I was there having my usual #9, no tomatoes, cut in half with a diet Coke.
I thought the cashier did well and keep'ed his cool. As a CCL holder, I want to avoid escalating a confrontation. I would always hand over anything, less than a persons life. But would I wait for this guy to get his pistol un-jammed? Would this be my turn in a robbery to get my pistol up and running, before the criminal fixes the jam? The criminal is clearly threatening life with his pistol.
I get the whole "make your choices, suffer the consequences" thing, believe me.
If you knew the pistol was inoperable then you knew there was very little physical threat. If you pulled out your CCW and killed this guy, knowing there was no or little threat, well you'd probably be in jail yourself.
The last thing a sane person wants to do is shoot someone.
I certinally wouldn't be displaying that attitude on an open forum...just saying.
The U.S. attorney's office said Rayford has 13 felony convictions for robbery, and he was on parole at the time of the alleged offenses. Under federal law, it is illegal for someone who has been convicted of a felony to be in possession of any firearm or ammunition.
He was caught driving around in a stolen F350 which he car jacked earlier in the day.
Geez... 13 prior armed robbery convictions. You can add one more with this one. The liberal justice system of course will let him out again in 6 months when he promises not to do it again!

it must be another one of those liberal democratic party cities where the criminals are protected. This guy has 13 previous felony charges or convictions and they still let him roam free to commit even more crimes. Totally insane as to how many second chances are they going to give this guy.
