Army Chief was a truly special, superb person. I and probably all long time "regulars" here will always cherish our good fortune of having met him.

A perpetual 1911 salute to a wonderful friend.

I never met Chuck, but he must have truly been someone special to still be remembered all these years later, even by relative strangers. RIP Sir, and Carry On.

You may spend a lot of money fixing things that weren't broken to begin with. Shoot at least 500 rounds through it first, then decide what you don't like and want to improve. Regarding vintage 1911s, pre-1970 pistols are highly collectible in original, unaltered condition and should NEVER be refinished or modified as it completely ruins their monetary value.

Chuck was one of a kind. He is missed. We go back a long ways before and when he was "Storm Master" on this forum. Did my time from 1969 to 1989.

I have a saying that I've lived by for 52 years------Helicopter pilots, and their crews, will never buy a drink as long as I'm in the room.

I'm typing this today, thanking God for those guys like Chuck, who went through hell to support us in our darkest hours.

CW5's have reserved seats in Heaven.

Chuck died too young.

R.I.P., Brother.

For the new people that happen along, the sticky on Army Chief is a good read. At least I thought it was good reading.

Agreed, nod.

His words of wisdom are solid, back then, and now, regardless of what type of 1911 you are shooting.

Thanks to you guys in the Wilson Combat sub-forum for memorializing his thoughts and opinions for the benefit of all of us.

Trust me-------------it takes a very special soldier to be selected to serve on the personal staff of a four star general.

Chuck obviously made that cut.

AC had uncanny wisdom, and an eloquent command of the English language as few others have; he was a truly exceptional man in many ways. Anyone flying a helicopter that has pretty much no defensive capacity into a hot combat zone had real stainless man-stuff IMO. My dad started out as a fighter pilot in WW II, then dive bomber pilot in the Korean war, then helo test pilot and instructor before going to private employer test pilot when the DoD was dumping reservists. They are a special breed, and AC was one of the top of that special breed.

I drank a few-12 couple for you Chuck. You still are a bad ass. Kuwaiti oil fires in 91, crazy times.
Rest easy.
