Sr1911 commemoratives

So, I had an impulse buy this past week at the local gun shop. They had an all stainless sr1911 in a wood & glass, felt lined & serialized presentation case that was presented as a some kind of commemorative but couldn’t tell me for what.

The gun doesn’t look to have been shot much if at all and I have not had time to shoot it myself but is in Beautiful condition.

So does anyone know if it is a special edition of some kind and if so any idea of what it’s commemorating? It has some nice special silver, metal grips on it that were probably added by the P.O.

I guess I have a little buyers remorse on this impulse buy but it is very nice and you simply cannot have enough 1911’s and being an all stainless piece it just pushed all the right buttons.

I will shoot it and enjoy it, may go with a EGW barrel bushing and slide stop to tighten things up a bit for more accuracy but i’ll Shoot it first and see how it does and if it is indeed a “special” maybe just leave it alone. Any input ?

I've seen couple commemoratives from Ruger online. Without pics it'll be hard to say. Chances are, you have a good pistol either way.

Thx Wayne, that’s really why I bought it. I’ve kinda wanted a Ruger 1911 for a while to add to the collection. Never enough 1911’s ya know.

No problem! My Ruger 1911 was my first 1911 and I still enjoy shooting it. My friends and I have put 15k or so rounds since I got it in the fall of 2013.

Hey, it's a Ruger so you know it's a good handgun, and you have a nice presentation case, how can you go wrong? Enjoy your Ruger 1911!
