Night Sights for SR1911 Target

Hi all,

I recently got a good deal on a 10mm SR 1911 Target (BoMar style sights), and I love the pistol. However, I'd really like to replace the sights with night sights. Does anybody know which sight cuts to look for?

Thanks for asking. I was just going to ask the same question.

I had a Ruger lightweight commanders in both 45 and 9mm. The cuts on both looked like Novaks to me. I replaced the Ruger sights with Trijicon HD sights for the 1911. They worked fine. I kept the 9mm and fell in love with it. I sold the 45 as it was just too much recoil in the commander for me; and I prefer the full size version in 45. Tamer to shoot.

I have this gun and was sorely disappointed with sight options (after I already purchased the pistol)
Ruger calls them "bomar style" sights, but they aren't. They're not bomar or BMCS sights at all, and my best guess is that they're proprietary to Ruger. I bought kentsight bomar night sights and had my machinist buddy tap a hole into my slide where the Ruger sight has the elevation screw tapped into the sight itself. Gun turned out great, but not everyone has those resources.

Ruger offers a SR 1911 10mm with Novak style Trijicon night sights, the “Night Watchman”.
Slide looks to be pretty close to the same as the target version. Perhaps a call to Ruger might be a good idea.
