My first STI. A Spartan.

I added a Fusion mainspring housing and magwell. Great gun so far although I believe the "issued" recoil spring was a little light. I am also getting used to a FLGR. I may change it to a GI plug and guide when I put in a flat 10-8 trigger. I have very high hopes for this gun. It is replacing my now retired Colt GM.

50 rounds ( .45 ACP) with my new STI Guardian. Right out of the box accurate. Seven yards standing, two hand supported. Trigger pull is like glass. Can't ask for anything better than that. Function was flawless with my reloads. Sorry don't know how to post a pic without a link.

My new STI Targetmaster in 9mm Luger.

Had my gunsmith switch the stainless STI thumb and grip safty + the black trigger to blued STI/Ed Brown parts wich gives the pistol that "1911 Longslide" look I'm after.

The pistol is for competitive shooting at 25 meter and a danish shooting dicipline called "pistol field shooting" where 4-5 targets are placed at distances from 15 to 100 meters and all have to be shot with a total of 5 shots at 12 sec. No reload or draw from holster. The heavy 6" slide helps make those long shots a succes.

Target with 10 shots from testing a load. I threw the two shots out of the group It's a very accurate gun.

The trigger pull is a bit heavy for target shooting, 1.6 kg (about 3 pounds) but I'm having my gunsmith lower that just at bit. Then polish to remove creep and adjust pre- and overtravel.

I'll proberly put an Ed Brown Extended Mag Release on the pistol as I'm having trouble getting the magazine out without changing my grip. Also the front sight have to be cut 2 mm lower - the surfboard in the front is just to tall and there's plenty room to lower the rear sight with a center hold at 25 meters.

Non original parts/modifications:

1. Front sight heavily modified to a partridge as well as wider
2. Slide stop is Wilson Combat Bullet Proof.
3. Mag release is Wilson Combat Bullet proof extended. Reduced power spring.
4. Hammer and Sear Locke style CMC, fitted, stoned and tuned to be a smidge over 3lb
5. Fusion Black Special Ops Grips
6. Fusion SS Torx grip Screws
7. 15lb Wolf Mainspring
8. 5lb Wolf variable power recoil spring
9. Replacement STI barrel, fitted to perfection(original was sloppy around the hood sides and rear face)
10. Barrel recrowned at 11 degress
11. Short Fusion Carbon Fibre trigger, modified to be even shorter
12. Frame drilled and tapped for a allen head grub screw, to allow me to fine tune trigger reset.
13. Underside of trigger cut a bit higher for me.
14. Mainspring Housing drilled and tapped for allen head grub screw, to allow small fine tune of trigger weight, if slightly under at match gun checks.
15. Main spring Housing blended at rear to match contour of frame.
16. Shock buff on guide rod.

Apart from that, that babies stock!!

Cheers,

Aussie D

How about an action shot. I took some pics for USMC03 at a recent Magpul Pistol class. Might be hard to tell, but it is a STI in 9mm.

My favorite pic from the class. Check out USMC03s thread in thead:

STI Tactical in 45acp. Holster is a homebrewed Kydex, that I'm slowly cutting back the sweat guard on. Made out of .093 kydex, want to use .06 next time. (BTW, and STI, three handgun mags and three AR mags ended up being way too much weight for the class I took. Needed some suspenders.)
