Ruger 6715 (with rail)

I've been eyeing that Ruger 6715 with tac rail, G10 grips and nitride coating over stainless steel.... $699 at CDNN right now and it's been making me drool. Any downsides to having a tac rail on a 1911? weight being thrown off? anything to do with reliability? or just aesthetics for those who don't like a rail on the gun. just curious since I've never owned or even fired a 1911 that had the rail, but all the goodies on it makes me drool

Only real down side to the rail is that it takes a different holster most of the time. If you are like most 1911 guys and have multiple 1911's (and holsters for them) then this will kinda irritate you.

gotcha, I don't have that problem as my 1911's are my house guns/range guns so it's gonna sit out anyways... It just seems that for $699 it's a wicked value with the nitron coating over stainless steel, rail and G-10 grips... It's a hard choice between that or a SA Mil-Spec
