USPSA Limited Nationals.

I shot a 6" 2011 with Infinity grip. Was rolling pretty well after the first two days but screwed the pooch day three. I ended up 41st.

Took y 8yr old granddaughter to a local 3 Gun match to watch before we got some practice in for the rimfire Worlds. After 2 stages they talked her into trying a stage or 2. We did not have her holsters along but she gave it a shot...now she is hooked and going again next week.

Production is HARD! So much work to align that damned iron sights! This was my 2nd time shooting in the Production Division and as you can see, I sucked! I only had one good stage and took 4th place which I was pretty proud of

Anyway, looking forward to getting back to hosing in Open.

Halloween is one of the best times of the year, a time where we all get to put on costumes and pretend to be someone/thing else. This year's Halloween Mini-Monster match was organized by the Down Zero crew and it was really fun!

I shot the entire match as Darth Vader. It was really hard to shoot while wearing the mask though but I had to do it.

Thanks to all of you who came in costumes!

IDPA Match

Here's my Pivothead video of the last big IDPA match of the year here in Arkansas. I've been off 11mo due to tearing some fibers in my Achilles' tendon. I picked up a Kimber Pro Tactical 1911 in 9mm and have been shooting it in CCP since coming back.

I was mentally more sound for this match, no crappy no-shoots or mikes and edged out a decent performance. Too many extra shots though, it looks like I definitely need more shooting-on-the-move practice.

The classifier was a first for me. Never seen that shot ever, even on youtube.

Sure is cool to see the video the day after I shoot a match. I get to see how you attack the stages when I'm in a different squad.

I had 2 mikes on the head shot in the middle of that Classifier ...

But we escaped the rain....

The Movember Charity Match run by the DownZero crew is a yearly match to promote the awareness of Prostate Cancer. They combine the USPSA stage design principles but with IDPA scoring. It's a fun match for a good cause. If you're male above the age of 40, go get a yearly exam and start tracking your PSA levels. Early detection is the key to survival.

As for my match performance, it sucked. Well not quite, the stages were fun, I had some decent runs but I made a stupid decision to test some new primers and bombed stage 6. Since it's time+ scoring, that cost me the entire match.

So, learn from me, don't ever test anything at a match, big or small.

Video - CalGuns Dueling Tree Massacre

I shot the CalGuns Dueling Tree Massacre last week. This was the first time in two years I have done any type of competition, and the first time ever doing a head to head type competition. It was also the first time I have been able to run my new Dan Wesson Valor. Up until this I had only run a couple of boxes through it at the local indoor range.

It was a double elimination and I went out in the third round. After doing so little shooting in the last two years, I really struggled with trigger control and was hitting about six inches low at 40'. Figured out later that I was anticipating and flinching downward with the muzzle before firing.

In addition to the competition ranges they had a practice range set up so I got to put a couple of hundred rounds down range after I was eliminated. By the end of the day I had eliminated most of the flinch and was doing much better.

Even going out early in the third round, I had a great time and I am looking forward to next year. I even won a free one year membership to my local range in the raffle after the event ended.

Here are some video's of the the three rounds I shot.

SO FRIGGING WET & COLD!

I told myself not to shoot a match when it's cold and pouring after my disastrous Marysville USPSA match a few months ago, but how can I not shoot this? it's a charity match for kids.

Some really crappy stages as my dot was all over the place. Need to make my target smaller, instead of a full target, just focus on the A zone.

A couple of good ones but not good enough. Good to hear that this match raised $2,000 in cash for the charity. Awesome! Glad to be part of it.

It was cold ...but I'm a sucker for the children.

I too couldn't miss it.

Big turn out for a poor weather day.

Classifier Match @ Custer

Another super cold day in the PNW. At least it was sunny and dry so it wasn't that miserable. I brought a warm coat and a propane Mr. Heater which helped out.

Didn't make GM this time but had a fun time shooting after the holidays, finally. So rusty.

Classifiers are :
- CM03-03 Take em' Down
- CM03-04 3V
- CM08-01 4 Bill Drill
- CM09-04 Pucker Factor
- CM08-03 Six
- CM13-05 Tick Tock

My first match of 2016 and it was a fun one. The stages were elaborate and fun to shoot, all except that blasted classifier. It's almost impossible to consciously shoot 100% in it. You have to be hosing like crazy and hope it hits. My run only yielded me a 63%, and 77% if I didn't get that one mike.

Apart from that, I'm lacking some dot discipline especially while moving. Oh and a note to self, don't snag fault line "ropes" with your holster anymore.

Here's my first ever 360 match video. This was taken using the Ricoh Theta S camera. You can watch this using a compatible browser like Chrome or through the YouTube app on your phone. You can pan around the screen or move your phone around you to watch the video from any perspective you like.

Enjoy!

Corey,

Have you tried the thumbs forward grip? In your video, you have thumb over thumb.

I thought I was using thumbs forward but now that I look again my left thumb is just hangin out there. I do grip w my left pointer finger in front of the trigger guard which may be changing things.
