Glock Generations?

I keep seeing in various posts about Gen. 1,2,3,4 Glocks. Can someone tell me what the differences are between the various generations? I'm thinking about adding a G23 to the arsenal soon, but would like to get the lowdown on this before I purchase. Thanks.

im not sure, but i know that when glock added finger grooves it changed, and now the slide serrations have changed.

if your thinking of getting a glock 23, i say go try one, or at least hold one and see if its to your liking. the glock 23 is a good gun, with a good reputation.

someone else will be able to help you better than i can. as far as glock info i would check on glocktalk.com

good luck

Butch, on GT, is famous for his "generations" photos.

Here's a pic of the differences in the first three generations' frames. Fourth gen not included.

Changes from 1 to 2 are basically grip stippling. Gen 3 added finger grooves and a light rail.

DOH! Jaydoc beat me to it, I was typing as he had posted!

Scroll part of the way down this page

It shows the first three generations. I am not sure how I feel about the new one, I would stick with a third generation, which is what most places will have in stock anyways.

The changes have been grip for the most part. The third gen also had a rail modification. It is also the generation with the fingergrooves.

Steel is right, there is no 4th gen at this time. Just a G22 RTS option that will most likely be expanded to other models sometime soon.
