An interesting read here.

Certainly some wisdom.

Good read thanks for sharing.

I think the biggest hurdle for us would be adapting to doing things the old fashioned way. We can hunt trap and build a fire but doing it for a weekend is a lot different than doing it for daily survival.

People 100 years a go did not have running water and microwave ovens so cooking on an open fire was normal. After a shtf event we would be wishing we had electricity again as opposed to never having it and not knowing what it was like. Technology has made us soft and driven us away from learning basic survival skills.

Now it is time to throw some popcorn in the microwave and search the couch for the remote

Lewis didn't live with Jefferson and his staff at the White House due to the fact that Jefferson never occupied the White House. John Adams was the first President to live there.

He may have lived with Jefferson, but not at the White House.

I questioned that myself.

I pretty much considered that someone got some bogus information some where down the line.

John Adams was Thomas Jefferson’s predecessor as president. My recollection is that Jefferson -considered- living elsewhere ... the “White House” was a little too obviously a royal palace for the purer philisophical portion of his character. But in the end relented and took up residence after President Adams left in 1801. At the time, I’d never even visited D.C. ... so no personal knowldge, but I’ve -read- that President Jefferson had made several architectural improvements during his residence in the “White House” (as one would expect ... if assuming that there -was- a period of Jefferson residence there). If mistaken, I have little doubt of being corrected. :- j

Perhaps thinking of President Washington? Getting events suitable to either of men of such awesome stature can get transposed in *my* mind. As different in character as the 1st and 3rd presidents were: living/not living in the presidential mansion would be such a point; could’ve happened to either/both.
