Franken .40

Hey Guys:

Posted this is the GUnsmithing Forum as well, but thought that I might have some luck in this Para specific forum as well. Apologize if "cross posting" violates any rules. I am new to this forum so kind of feeling my way along.

Have a 1911 (.45ACP) Government slide for which I'm looking for a complete lower frame.

Anyway, have access to a Para P-14 that will fit the slide, and takes hi cap mags. MY question is can I then convert it into a .40 for the xtra rounds that it will hold. Want to try my hand at IPSC Limited, and can do it this way without breaking the bank.

Any thoughts / suggestions welcome and appreciated.

Science projects can be fun but this one I fear will be full of frustration. The 45 caliber slide will have a breach face too large for 40 cal. 40 cal has enough problems on its own in the 1911 format without adding to the mix an over caliber slide. Your best bet with 40 cal will be starting with a complete gun, single or double stack. Taurus initially intended to offer a complete 40 cal 1911 and have now canceled that future offering.
