Taurus 1911 inquiry

I recently purchased a taurus pt1911b, and was wondering "Gee, It'd be cool to have a silencer." So my question is, could I take a threaded barrel from -lets say a Remington R1- and drop it in my taurus? And if so, how would i go about purchasing this barrel?

You need to buy a new threaded barrel to have it fitted. Just dropping in different barrels without having them fitted is asking for all kinds of trouble. Lugs have to fitted and so on. The cost of the can is average $800 or so depending on what you want. Then there is the little issue of the additional $200 tax stamp and so on. Have a Kart barrel fitted first or whatever brand barrel you choose.
