The Best New Pistols at SHOT Show 2020 according to Outdoor Magazine

https://www.outdoorlife.com/story/gu...-at-shot-show/
  • Luago Alien Pistol
  • SCCY DVG-1RD
  • NEMO Monarch MK-9
  • Walther Q4 SF
  • HK VP9 Update
  • Glock 44 .22LR
  • Ruger 57
  • SIG Romeo1 PRO
  • Mossberg MC2c
  • Taurus Defender 856
  • Colt Python
  • Smith & Wesson Shield EZ M2.0 9mm

Check the link for photos and descriptions.

Five of them come with OEM optics/red dot mounted on.

The SCCY DVG-1RD is kinda cool considering it's a micro-compact with a red dot sight and very affordable.

Looks like Ruger wants to re-invigorate the FN 5.7mm round.

I think the Ruger 57 might have some potential. It's a poor-man's FN Five-Seven. The biggest problem with the 5.7x28mm is that there simply aren't enough firearms chambered for it so that kills the round's popularity. Most people like to pick a round that will have a variety of firearms available to shoot it. At least I am that way.

It's a sad day if this is the list of "Best New Pistols".

I don't want any of them.

The alien is DOA since at that price a open gun will annihilate it with zero effort, I'm betting an S2 with full CGW modification will tie if not beat it as well. That thing has you reaching down to the trigger and aiming will be interesting to say the least for initial shot alignment

My range has a rental R 5.7, it think it's a better gun than my FN 5.7 and is easier to shoot at be very least. I may get one but I'm not certain since I after all do already have the original gun

Thanks for the look!
Ummm, OK, Glock made a 22. That is seriously one of the ugliest things I have ever seen.....super duper 1" light rail too! What an embarrassment...…..

The Python is very cool...….sounds like a long wait since its 16,000 deep on backorder the first day of the show...….no worries with the Taurus though, no backorders. You can take one home today for under $500. <<<< Just a little jab at those that like to compare a Taurus to something like the Colt. Just don't do it, you sound silly!

I think this year has more variety than previous years. At least they are not promoting any .380 ACP micro-junk. I remember a few years back .380 ACP for pocket carry was the rage. Every maker was racing to get theirs on the market.

How often do you shoot your fn? Does it get regular use or more of a novelty?

Novelty an for people who never shot one and want to, tried to use it for competition a few times in local stuff but it just doesn't perform all that exceptional. Ammo is very fun but expensive, will defeat a II and IIa vest but only the real stuff defeats IIIa but then again my 10mm all do the same thing as does 9mm major or .450 SMC

Nothing listed there does much for me.

I am guessing that they just auction off the spots on the list.

I should say that the Python is of some interest.

Perhaps the Dan Wesson DWX wasn't at the shot show?

https://danwessonfirearms.com/product/dwx//

I'd find it hard to believe the DWX wouldn't make a top 10 list of new pistols.

I've never been a revolver guy, but that Python really appeals to me.

Just spend some time with one before getting excited. To my taste it is stacking too much, not good enough. The Python does not belong on that list.

RIDICULOUS.

Wasn't this $7500 pistol the darling of last year's SHOT show? Haven't heard much about it since then.

+1, 9mm heaven (yes, few that are not) - It is hard to get too excited about a 9mm carry gun - everyone and their brother makes one. All self-proclaimed soft shooters, yea, no poo-poo when you're shooting 130-150PF-loads ;-) - yawn!

The SCCY is on the list and the DWX isn't?

But the Taurus and Glock do?? Go chase your tail!
I think the earlier comment on “auctioning” off the spots may be correct, but how can you say the Colt shouldn’t be on the list when it went 16,000 deep in backorder on the first day?? Your opinion is in the minority......

"Just a little jab at those that like to compare a Taurus to something like the Colt. Just don't do it, you sound silly! "

If only to continue the respectful ribbing... Isn't that new COLT Python the one that for a number of respected reviewers the cylinder has been failing to rotate on occasion? For ME anyway, a big-bucks revolver what don't rotate is kinda silly too. lol

All said in good fun, but to my earlier post, stuff happens and positive and negative reviews follow almost everything made since the buggy whip.
