Remington "Customer Service"

I've had a blued R1 Enhanced for some time. At one point the fiber optic rod came out, and I replaced it myself.

Yesterday the front sight broke into two piece while I was firing it. I called Remington and the person I talked to asked for the serial number. He then told me they didn't have that sight, but I could get one from Brownell's. He did give me the height I needed.

I wouldn't have been surprised if I had been asked to pay for the sight, but are they no longer even selling parts?

I've been spoiled by Ruger and Smith and Wesson's service departments.

I would have asked him. Then if not given satisfaction I would have asked his supervisor. Doesn't always work but often does for me. Often if one doesn't ask one doesn't get. Sounds to me it's possible he wasn't even considering that option. Make him do so and you might get what your seeking. In other words help him help you.

To be honest I would probably never buy anything from Remington as I have yet to hear anything but negatives about their customer service. I actually have one Remington gun but it's from 1954 and customer service was not a factor. Customer service is but one factor I consider when purchasing something but when it's all poor then it's very hard to overcome that one factor.

Some companies just don't like to send parts out. I have heard though, that Remington was freely giving out front sights as some of their early 1911s had the wrong height front sights on them.

I would say you probably caught them on a day where they really didn't have what you needed in stock. On the other hand. Some companies won't send out parts for liability reasons, yet will sell them to third parties that you can them buy them from.

I have two of the FN pistols with the defective strikers. FN would have paid freight for me to send both back, as well as fixed them under warranty. No one would have been home to receive them, as I was tied up all last summer. They wouldn't even sell me the parts, and their third party seller never had them. I ended up having to buy a pair of aftermarket ones from Brownells.

A CS rep at S&W told me to check with Brownell's and Midway. He told me they sell most of their parts through them.

This was 2 months ago.

I got a new R1 in November and it shot about 12" low at 50' so I called customer service and asked about the lower front sight .
they had it sent to me in about 10 days!

So I sure can not say anything bad about their customer service!

some have complained about quality and I have not had any problems with that either!

I just must be livin right or somethin!?

Typically even the worst company manages to get things right every once in awhile. But often it's the company that does so many things wrong so often your going to hear about it more often. Same goes for good companies as they can get it wrong every now and again.
