Colt Gunsite Lightweight Commander

This question was asked in another thread about the Gunsite Commander but a definitive answer was never given.

Gunsite sells the Lightweight Commander on their website for what is a crazy $1800. This gun has the trigger guard undercut.

Davidson's and Bud's are also selling a Colt Gunsite Lightweight Commander for hundreds less - about $600 less now! But the details of this gun are a bit murky. The pics make the gun appear the same but there have been conflicting reports on whether the guns sold outside of the Gunsite shop have the undercut trigger guard.

Do the Colt Gunsite Lightweight Commanders that are sold through Davidson's and Bud's have the undercut trigger guard?

I'm about ready to buy one, but if it does not have the undercut I will likely go with the Wiley Clapp model instead.

Colt sells it's own LW Commander in my area for $999.99. It has undercut triggerguard & two 8 rnd mags. It's a pretty nice pistol.
Good luck.

There are two on GB for 1206 and 1290

I have and carry the Colt WC CCO. Has everything you need. I really like the .170 rear sight notch and small GI thumb safety.

I do like the wide notch on the WC. But I prefer the night sight front on the Gunsite. I am a sucker for the raven, but the Clapp has fewer items I would seek to change. I'm kinda torn.

The Colt Gunsite LW Commander will be the same if it is sold by Gunsite or an online dealer. They are made to GS specs in Colt's Custom Shop, and they are damn fine pistols.

I got my Gunsite LW Commander in November and shot it for the first time today. This is the first shot out of the pistol. 15 feet, old eyes and windy.

BOB,
Great looking gun! have to ask though, is the gun really blue like your photo? So much blue these days is black looking but yours is pretty!

I would describe the finish as black, it is not the old school blue.

Gunsite puts the on sale a couple times a year. Usually for 1300.00.

I was under the impression that only the ones from Gunsite itself have a front night sight. Thatís the way it is with their government model.

On Facebook Gunsite posted a video about the Gunsite pistols. They partner with Davidson's in order to make the order big enough that Colt will make them. It sounded like the pistols would be identical. I'll find out next week, my Lightweight Commander from Bud's should arrive then.

It's bead blasted then blued, which can look black.

What color do they hard anodize the alloy frame?

Like most anodized frames it's a chalky black.

I did that once with a 9mm Ed Brown Kobra Carry, first shot. I remember thinking, "Now what? Do I pack up? It can only go downhill from here!"

I have the 5" GSP and love it. Its mostly a range gun. I would like to get the GSP, commander, but would prefer the all steel Combat Commander configuration. Enjoy.

No we don't pack it up, we just don't fire another shot at paper that day!
I'm blessed to have grasshopers, dirt clods, & cactus leaves, to shoot at our range. Wink!
