I also avoid black leather unless needed for a plain-clothes or off-duty detail. Brown or natural is the way to go.

I haven't been told what kind of holster I had to have so the choice has always been up to me so there are some black, some brown, some kydex but mostly leather.

Went a little nuts last month though and ordered a Sourdough Pancake from Simply Rugged. I've never had anything fancy in a holster but this one is Oxblood in color and dressed up with the Celtic Knot...

Who's going to see it?

Me mostly...sometimes it's just nice to have something nice!

For EDC I like to have at least one black and one cordovan color. Given that I can't cross lace and bar lace I use color to alternate. It nags at me to wear the same leather two days running; at least when I'm sleeping at home.

Kramer horse in mahogany I think is a pretty color for field.

I wear this little old Hunter cross draw when driving. I thinks it's black.

I may dress like a farmer and buy most of my clothes at outdoor stores, buy my holster, belt, and reload holder always match. For the 2-3 handguns I most often carry I have a set of brown and black leather.

I do sort of miss the old black basketweave, and mind still fits.

Only thing I don’t like about black holsters is that they leave black streaks all over my stainless Colt.

So I got a VMII and a 55 BN in natural tan for it.

My Mil Spec still has black leather...

As long as the holster matches your shoes, like my old department’s policy, “fashion over function”

Everything seems to be black. My sunglasses case, my electric razor case, my PC, my car interior. I sometimes have a hard time seeing things in my suitcase because of this. Which is why my current cell phone is red!

How about both, coexisting in harmony. Here are a couple of my Sparks 55BN Thunder Ranch models with a set of matching Springfield Professionals.

I see kindred folks here....
I too was forced to wear black duty gear for about 3 decades.
Will have NONE of that now. Everything is tan, brown or russet. And I don't care about a few scuffs on it now and then - there's no inspections being performed.

I didn't expect to find a bunch of fashionistas here. Do y'all wear high heels when walking down the fashion show runway? (duck & cover)

Here's one that I've been breaking in. Sorry for the orientation she was right side up in the preview.

Great job, Shooter59 and others.

You’ve developed an understandable desire to go in a different direction. Enjoy it.

Numerous super options out there.

I just saw this thread and I think its great! I too got tired of black too. I have so many holsters in black leather. Kydex too. I just purchased a Milt Sparks 1AT with matching mag pouch in Cordovan (I should have ordered a belt to match). All other leather holsters I get natural or oiled. FDE is my favorite for Kydex.

+1! I have two others from MS, and love them.

My humble attempt at a Rhodesian clone. Oiled finish with clear shoe polish. Sig Nightmare Carry with custom stingray grips from Wicho Gunleather.

I’ve made several black holsters, and have never been crazy about how they turned out. Browns and natural finish for me!

All black, All the time.

Black is stealthy and matches everything I wear and accessorize with. Black can be mixed and matched with ease, I’d clash wearing a brown holster with black magazine pouches.

I do wear khaki for my tact-vest in my urban/rural area. My rifle is FDE.

In order to remedy this issue, I placed an order with the good folks at Milt Sparks. 55BN, a couple mag pouches, PMK for my M-13, and a couple belts.......all in natural tan.

I feel so much better, having gotten that off my chest, 🙂
I'm with you OP. Just picked up an HF1 from Tucker in Black Cherry. Have to say I've never been a fan of black.
