Dalworthington Gardens DPS, Tarrant County, TX. Chief carries a 1911, as do about four others. If you can qualify with it, you can carry it.

Only the Rangers are allowed to carry the 1911 with DPS others carry the Sig P226 in .357 Sig or the P229 for the smaller handed and special details as far as I know.

Denton PD, Denton Tx, allows the carry of a 1911 as long as it's from the approved manufacturer list.

Leon County, Florida Sheriff's Dept. and Tallahassee, FL. PD. I've seen several officers from both Dept's with 1911's. Don't know if they're grandfathered or not.

A search would probably dig up some more, I know I answered a previous thread with nearly everyone in the Albuquerque metro area, as well as Las Cruces. That comes to about about 7 agencies.

Southern Illinois University Carbondale Campus Police

About 8 out of 10 seem to carry a 1911 of some sort. Most carry Kimber Customs.

Anchorage PD, at least recently, but I don't know if they're (still) issued, authorized options, or grandfathered. I turned on the idiot box for the first time in weeks, to an episode of COPS shot there. One of the officers was carring a stainless 1911, black grips, with a circular red medallion. I can't say that it was a Delta Elite, but that's my guess.

Sweet Grass Co, Carbon Co, and Stillwater Co. in Montana. Probably more....
Sweet Grass Co. actually got some re-arsenaled USGI's from the military and issued them to the deputies if they wanted one!

You already have my department on the list (Hays Co. SO). San Marcos PD just got the 1911 approved for carry at their department.

Ah, San Marcos!! Ya gotta love Chief Howard Williams. He was a great Commander with our department. I like the fact that he uses his common sense to make decisions!

Anyone happen to know, off the top of their head, whether the Kansas Highway Patrol is 1911-friendly or not? It's starting to look like I'm going to be working there in the near future. The trooper who's doing my background check isn't a gun guy and hasn't looked into the firearms policy, so he couldn't tell me. I know their duty guns are required to be .45 ACP. They issue Glock 21s, and I know Sig P220s are authorized as well (that's probably what I'll carry if the 1911 ist verboten.) Anyone seen a KHP trooper with a 1911, or know anyone who would know one way or the other?
