Cleaning and storing

Any new to me firearm is completely disassembled and cleaned. Small parts go in a ultrasonic cleaner filled with Simple Green for about 30 minutes at max temp. When removed from the bath they go in a wire basket and repeatedly dipped in hot clean water till no trace of soap suds. Then quickly spread out on a clean cloth to dry. Any residual water is blown away with compressed air. When completely dry all parts are lightly coated with Rem Oil aerosol spray. Excess oil is removed with a dry cloth.

Bores are cleaned initially with a bore foam to remove built up heavy metals. Then cleaned with CLP and a brass brush. Then using an undersized brass brush wrapped with multiple clean bore patches and CLP. This is repeated until patch comes out clean. Then one dry patch and finally one patch coved with a light coat of Rem Oil to give the bore a oil coat. NOTE: Every gun before going to the range gets a dry patch run up and down the bore to remove oil and potential obstructions.

Furniture is inspected and any bad scratches are touched up with ResoreAFinish. The military wood gets a heavy coat of BLO which is wiped down after 20 minutes, and then rubbed down after several hours.

Leather gets a coating of Pecard Leather Dressing per the manufactures instructions.

After reassembly any blued or high polish surfaces get a coating of Renaissance Wax per the manufactures instructions.

Storage conditions are 60 to 70 % RH and 65 to 75 degrees F.
