New Dan Wesson Valkyrie

I picked up a new Valkyrie today that I purchased off of Gun Broker for an awesome deal. $1K new in the box and not a blem. However I noticed the word Valkyrie is printed on the slide rather than engraved. I can't find another picture on the interwebs that look like my slide. Does anyone else have a Valkyrie with the name printed on the slide?

I just picked up a 2019 model. It's engraved.

That is odd and certainly not the Norm. I have never seen any Dan Wesson with a printed name on the slide. All of mine have been nicely engraved. I would be giving Dan Wesson a call in Tuesday.

Is it a standard DW serial #? First two digits are year the last last five digits are the sequence.

I'm betting it's a 2000 model.

That would be very disappointing if they stopped engraving the names.

The first two digits are 18 followed by additional 5 numbers. The sticker on the box says 10/8/2019

Here are two photos I found searching Goolge with the CCO looking like it's not engraved.

Yes, I have that "special edition Valor", sku 01855, and the name is in fact printed. I have another Valor, sku 01873, and it has the name engraved.

My Guardian is most definitely and clearly engraved. My Classic is hard to tell, and I had to use a jeweler's loupe to see that it is minutely engraved. With black paint inside the engraving, over the stainless slide.

Wow an 2018 serial # start and an Oct 2019 build. That frame must have been hidden behind some boxes on the shelf. The frames are stamped when they are made I think. I'm pretty sure the white lettering comes from post finish (Duty treat) laser engraving. Should be able to feel the lettering as it's not applied but etched. My 2011 VBOB is this way, and I really like the look of it. Keith will clear this all up no doubt.

I was looking at that same deal on GB but just don't see how anyone can sell a $2,000 NIB gun for $1,000. Hopefully it's legit and you got a great deal. Interested to see what DW has to say.

Glad to know there are others out there that are printed.

I’m actually looking at a new Valkyrie on Gunbroker for $1,000. Wonder if it’s the same seller?

I’m sure the gun is fine, but I'd be very disappointed if mine was printed not engraved. I may just be happy with my VBob and CCO and call it a day. I do like the sights and front strap checkering on the Valkyrie, though.

Hopefully Keith can give us all some insight.

The seller was USALA21. He has responded to all my emails and said he'd never seen one like that before. He is supposed to check with his rep and get back to me.

Yep, same seller I’m looking at. He had 5 earlier today and is now down to 2. They’re going fast! Thanks for checking.

It is engraved but post Duty treat rather than pre. I do not recall why?We used to engrave all of our black guns this way and then stopped and caught flack for that.

Thanks, Keith! So I'm guessing these are good to go then? I'm seriously thinking about pulling the trigger on one for this price.

That is a super low price, even if it were a blem or used.

Bought one this morning. Still hard to believe the price! Should have it Thursday. Seller must have a bunch of these as he was down to 2 this morning then he had 5 again this afternoon.

That is a heck of a price. I would jump on it if I didn't already have two Valkyries, a Valkyrie Commander, a CCO, and a Guardian (plus some full sized DWs).

Did I mention I really love the Valkyrie?
