Dan Wesson shuts down

From DW’s Facebook page:

Quote:
To our loyal customers, dealers, distributors and partners,

Due to the ongoing novel coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic, many jurisdictions throughout the United States and the world are experiencing government restrictions limiting activity to varying degrees.

Dan Wesson operations are subject to an Emergency Order from our local government which forces us to close our facilities in Norwich, New York. Likewise, our CZ-USA facility in Kansas City, Kansas was closed under similar circumstances due to an order from the state of Kansas until at least April 23rd.

For the next 30 days, production and shipment delays are inevitable. We apologize for the inconvenience we know this will cause -- we hold our nation's Second Amendment rights to be sacred and are very concerned about the impact that emergency orders will have on our customers. We will work diligently to deliver products as soon as legally possible, while maintaining social responsibility and compliance with government orders.

To all of the Dan Wesson family, we hope that you stay healthy, safe and secure in the coming weeks. Make wise decisions -- we'll see you on the other side.

Bummer I was going to send them my slide. Guess I'm glad I didn't, it would just be sitting there.

Thanks for posting this tc215.

I haven't had anything to do with Facebook for a few years and wouldn't have seen this had you not posted it here.

I wish them all the best. I would imagine others in the industry are to follow.

In the meantime I hope it gives someone in DW product development time to reflect on how they need to offer blue revolvers again. : )

It's clearly posted on Dan Wesson's webpage.

I don't expect them to be on every gun forum there is trying to make the same announcement.

Putting on facebook and on their webpage seem to be highly effective ways to get the word out. Folks like tc215 let us know here. I don't facebook so it was news to me.

I'd have seen their webpage notice if I'd have opened it to begin the process of sending a gun back for custom work, warranty stuff or to inquire about custom order options.

Part of the setbacks of operating their shop where it's located.

On the flip side, though.......I was mighty pleased to read the following when going to WC's site to order some gear:

Location, location, location.

Gotta love it.

Update—

to our loyal customers, dealers, distributors and partners,

we’re happy to announce that over the weekend, governmental bodies reinforced the fact that firearms retailers and manufacturers are essential businesses in our nation and as such may resume operations unhindered. With that, we will be ramping up our shipping operations to help get our products out to folks who need them. While we won’t be at peak efficiency, guns and parts should continue to flow.

During this ongoing pandemic, we feel it is the responsible thing to do to keep the bulk of our workforce at home — many of whom can work remotely. Our customer service, marketing, sales, accounting and operations teams will continue as they have during our local stay-at-home order in an effort to reduce the transmission of covid-19 in our community.

As always, if you are in need of assistance please contact us at [email protected]. We hope you and yours continue to stay healthy, safe and secure through these difficult times!
