if you don't get empty brass hitting you in the forehead(not drawing blood)....i'd leave it alone.
i had mine (SA GI) lowered because i reload....high ejection port would badly ding my brass.
I had mine done a couple of weeks ago while it was in for warranty work. It sure is nice not getting popped in the forehead every other round. Plus it looks kinda cool. :biglaugh:
If I were you, I would try some +P SD loads in it and see how your brass turns out. If you don't plan on reloading it, don't worry. I ruined a bunch of brass till I had my ejection port lowered.
If your brass is ejecting cleanly with the loads you are running and not hitting the side of the port or hitting you in the head then leave it. Doesn't sound like you are currently having an issue.
My GI has never had an issue with the standard ejection port. Once in a blue moon brass will eject straight back, or get dinged somewhat badly. I provide my professional reloader (if you see this, thanks dad) with brass and he hasn't had any complaints about the dings. He shoots an old colt with a standard ejection port as well.
Whenever I shoot my GI I never get tagged by the brass but as soon as I let my brother or one of my friends shoot, sure enough they get it right on the forehead.
Sounds like limpwristing or other improper form. You can either "fix" the gun to accomodate their technique or fix the shooter. Either that or you and the gun are screwed up and they are all shooting correctly
"Lowered and flared also adds to the rounds being ejected cleanly, helps to prevent stovepipes and jams on ejection."
So does tuning the firearm properly.
