Any word on a Rock Island 1911 in 9mm?

Just checking to see if anyone (in the know) has any info on when/if a 9mm version of the Rock Island 1911 will be produced. Particularly a tactical model.

Thanks!

Hi Eric, is the barrel ramped or non-ramped? Thanks!

I am waiting for the Armscor Rep, Ivan, to get back from the shot show. When he does that will be one of my first questions. I have heard of guys taking a .38 super and modding it for 9 MM. If Ivan says they won't get a shipment in anytime soon I may be going that route.

All ya got to do is get one in .38super and buy a "drop in" 9mm barrel. Then you can fire both rounds

The word they gave me at the SHOT Show was "sorry no" . They can't fill all the orders for 45's so they won't reduce production from their #1 seller for the 9mm .

I spoke with Ivan in Louisville on Monday . He says he's been very busy , but is hoping to devote more time here at 1911 forum as he likes the people here . If anyone needs him asap , I would email .

Well there you have it. Buy a .38 super and drop in a 9mm barrel is the way to go I guess.

I bet, if they introduce the 9mm for the same price as their 45's, the 9mm's will be their #1 seller in no time. Oh, well..

I understand . Oh well , maybe next year ?

If I don't go the drop in bbl route , I may consider the Taurus . They appear to be ready to ship 1911 9mm's this year .

Too bad. I've always been a .45 guy, but with ammo prices the way they are, I was thinking about a 9mm. I love RIAs, but for the price of a RIA and a drop-in barrel, you can buy something else.

Be careful, though, I've heard some newer RIA supers doesn't come with ramped barrels. Ramped barrel's a must for a high pressure cartridge in my opinion.
