They must really be hurting for orders.

In all sincerity, I suspect that is a special order competition gun that got the order cancelled after the build had started. Just my most prevalent suspicion. I don't think it would be there otherwise, because when they add a new model like that there is always an announcement first.

When you go to the description page it is listed as "Combat-Tuff Finish, Blue/Black", so I would guess that is a new finish. The cutouts in the slide are not listed.
I am afraid that this is the way a lot of 1911 will go in the future, the more gaudy the better. I as a classic kind of guy will become a dinosaur.

I am also in that same boat to some degree. I don't like gaudy, but some of the newer slide serrations (like the Vickers in the rear) or XTAC grip and rear of slide treatment are very functional and I like them for that. I'm a blued gun with Walnut grips kind of guy, but I can appreciate some of the newer innovations; this one is a "race gun" type to me, and since I've never been a competition person it does not appeal to me. Different strokes for different folks, but I suspect this is a cancelled order that was part way through the build.

I believe they released those slide cuts about a year ago. I’ve seen that color on a few pistols, I’ve also seen them doing black/red and black/green

The blue color is intended as a distraction mechanism.

Your assailant sees your pistol, says “Is that a [email protected]$!ng blue Wilson?!”

It gives you a few extra moments to place better shots on target.

Brilliant, really.

That....or the person requesting this design had recently bought high quality product from one of the marijuana dispensaries that are popping up everywhere.

I think this is a play toward the younger crowd and there market.

I am gonna show this pic to my son that is 22 y/o. My gut is that he would choose this over a WC Turnbull finish. I will follow up with what he chooses.

I'm hoping he picks the Turnbull in the safe.

Man that looks like something you would experiment on a much lower priced pistol, but someone must like that style. I'm just not that someone.

As a 25 year old......I would not in a million years pick that blue thing over a Turnbull lol!

That's my thinking as well. To each their own but nothing beats the timeless lines of a classic 1911. I'll never understand the need to splash it with fancy colors and such.

Someone bought it from Wilson's stock inventory, it's now listed for sale as "Used" in the usual online gun website.

Shocking. Absolutely shocking.

Since it's still on the website, I suppose there have been no "takers"
