My fellow shooting friend that I've known for 20 years. He was a member and a moderator here in the early years. But like most of us, he lost interest and work and life got higher priority.
A few years ago I found out he was making knives and I've wanted one. Finally asked him to make me one a few months ago. He didn't disappoint. He also made the sheath.
Very nice looking-in the first photo it looked bigger and a bit heavy in the grip but with the snubby for reference it's about the size of my Dozier Personal. That's a handy size and very good for carry on a daily basis!
A very nice knife and I also like the design of his sheath. I often carry a very similar knife made by Scott McGhee and find it just right for everyday chores.
No he does not have a website. He's making knives/sheath as a hobby. I had to beg him since before Thanksgiving So far he's only making them for friends. My second one is done, waiting for the sheath.
I like that style, grip and blade have a nice proportion, beautiful work.
My friend also did a custom for me, similar to your style, Walrus Ivory with his Elk relief.
I'm left handed so it's made to show the left side of the knife when it's in it's left handed sheath.
He made it to fit my hand, when I grasp the knife and extend my trigger finger it lands right at the tip of the blade, he said when your inside a animal you want to know where your knife point is.
Really nice knife and sheath Ricky! That is a very handy size, just right for most jobs that a carry knife would be used for, from cutting rope to skinning deer. Your friend did a really swell job on both! Oh, and I love that Diamonback snubbie!
It’s good to see smiths provide quality and utile sheaths. I have a couple of knives that I really like, but the sheaths aren’t well-designed, so I just look at those knives every so often when I select something else to wear.
Yes it's hard when you have other things to do in life, like work. I was a hobby maker because I did not derive my primary income from making (Thank God) but I'd send off 20-30 at a time for heat treat. That's when Paul Bos was doing it at Buck Knives.
