Gun periodicals

Thinking of ordering some magazines. The kind you read. What are your favorite magazines for gun topics especially 1911s?

Their should be a 1911 only magazine out six times a year, but their is not .

Magazines are so cheap at under 25.00 a year . I like to support the industry
GUNS , American Handgunner , Handgun .

RECOIL a little bit higher priced at 60.00 a year .

Firearms News is my choice. Certainly not 1911 only, but a fair amount of 1911 coverage. I really enjoy their historical pieces.

There used to be an annual 1911 magazine published, it lasted 4 or 5 years before it went away.

Luckily for us most gun mag editors know the 1911 is still a very popular pistol so custom, semi-custom and standard production pieces generally get good coverage. Watch out for writers that never have a bad word to say about anything they get to test. Back in 2011 it was a heyday for 1911 coverage, special editions of several magazines were published and the hype lasted for most of the year, it was glorious, not many pistols make it to an 100 year birthday.

I started out reading Guns & Ammo, American Handgunner & Handguns.
Never missed an issue for close to 5 years.

Anymore though, I only browse thru one or two when I'm the grocery or Walmart.

I really like Guntests magazine. No ads, lots of different types of firearms tested and they like 1911's and non poly guns. Good stuff on holsters, magazines etc.

They also have no problem calling a turd a turd. Can't say the same for most print these days.

Really love reading American Handgunner. Have subscribed to that one for years. Recently got to subscribing and reading Handloader and Rifle magazines (both published by Wolf Publishing). Lots of good content and not a ton of ads.

They quit selling most gun magazines in the stores locally. Makes it difficult to read good articles.

The 1911 Magazine for the past four years can be found here. https://www.osgnewsstand.com/collection/shooting
They are $10 each including shipping.
