Gotta keep my wife out of the gun store

Went to a neighboring towns gun store, which is a great place. Never been there before. Took my wife with me. Mistake!!! I was picking up a new ar-15. I heard her ask to see a handgun. Not paying any attention I hear the guy say "this is the Kimber micro 9". I'm thinking to my self, "she knows a fine piece when she sees it ". I hear her say " I really love the feel". I immediately look over to see a big grin on her face. I ask the guy "what's the best price on it? He says since I'm buying the rifle he will do 360 otd on the Kimber. Well for that price I told the guy to throw it in too. It was left over from black Friday and they wanted to move it. I was drooling at that deal!! My wife doesn't know a Kimber from a high point (quality wise). She couldn't understand why I jumped at the deal. I said for one, if you instantly loved the feel, you will be comfortable with it and 2 that's a gun that normally is in the high 500 dollar range. She graduated from a Taurus g2c (which she likes) to a Kimber micro 9. I think she instantly will notice a difference today when we go shooting. On the plus side, if she don't like it I just bought ME a Kimber.

. Thanks. Married 20 years, she knows by now what she wants, she usually gets! But she spoils me just the same! Will post another thread later to give my opinion on how it shoots and handles. And pictures if I can figure out how to attach pictures

Women infuriate me in gun shops. If you put a Royal Blue snub nose Colt Python, and turquoise Taurus 85 next to eachother and the shop owner said she could have either for free, she'd grab the Taurus because it looks cute.

My wife would want the Python. When we first married she had a model 85 she had been given. I asked if she had shot it. She said no. I took her to shoot it. After a few rounds I asked if she liked shooting it. She said no. I put the .38's in my old Dan Wesson .357 & let her shoot it. I asked if she liked it better. She replied that it was much nicer. My girl might not know guns but she knows she doesn't like recoil & larger guns with the same ammunition mean less recoil.

Shawn I hope your wife enjoys the Kimber. Definite step up from the Taurus.

I'd take the 70 Cuda sale it and buy a 70 Chevelle SS.

I like to take my wife because any guns I can convince her that she needs I also get to shoot.

I accompany my wife when she shoppes for cosmetics and she accompanies me when I shop for guns. Difference is, she always ends up buying herself something at my destination.

I had a girlfriend who looked like Elvira, The Mistress Of The Dark. Yes, in ALL ways. (younger forum members can Google Elvira)

People on the street would ask her for her autograph. Some would flat out refuse to believe that she was NOT Elvira.

Anyhow, when she was wearing low-cut dresses it usually accelerated restaurant service & got us very prompt attention from store clerks, hotel staff, etc. At least from the male ones.

No doubt it would help prevent getting ignored at a gun shop too.

She definitely loves the Kimber. She "liked" the Taurus but didn't realize that shooting could be enjoyable! After the shooting today she now realizes that all guns are not created equal. While my two brothers both drooled over the Kimber (one being a police chief , both former military) they both were amazed at how well it shot being a micro pocket gun. Shooting 115 grain fmj it kept tight groups and ate every round put through it. The Grouping only improved as the rounds went through it.

I should be so lucky. If I go to a gun show or tell her I'm going to the LGS what I hear is what do you need another gun for don't you have enough. And it goes on and on. So consider yourself lucky .

Last time I took my wife to a gun shooo we ended the trip with her putting a 4” S&W 500 mag. And 2 boxes of ammo. Not something we could normally spend money on but I sold my chopper and told her I would buy it for her when she gave me that “pretty please” look with her eyes. Willl she shoot it, yes, just not a lot. She loves revolvers.

That was the very gun that soured me on Kimber for life. Three trips back to factory for ejector and feed problems. Finally sold it for about what you paid.

Hope hers works better than mine did.

so far so good. No hiccups yesterday. But next trip out could prove trouble. Not enough range time to deem it "perfect". But we will see. I did tune the ejector before going to the range. I wasn't satisfied with the "shake test" while doing my initial take down and lube. But didn't notice any feed issues while shooting. Using 115 grain ball round ammo fmj will definitely be skeptical of any gun until it proves itself. Hopefully you just had a dud. But again I do wonder why I got such a sweet deal on it. Maybe they had a rash of returns on them and just wanted to get rid of the last one in inventory??? Time will tell.

USMM guy--------- Yeah, Elvira Girl looked great and was cool in many ways. But she had some serious jealousy issues. Which was absurd because I had ZERO intentions of straying from her (I knew a good thing when I had it!) But after yet another accusation of cheating I had to get out.

On guns: I had suggested to her that she pack some heat or at least carry SOMETHING because she worked at her Mom's bar, alone at night.

Then it happened. A "regular" very drunk, tried to assault her in the parking lot after she closed. She screamed bloody murder & busted her tip jar over his head, scattering change all over.

He ran off & she filed a report. Then the very next day the guy showed up to drink again! Apparently having no recollection of what her had done the previous evening!

She called the fuzz again and he was arrested. Had she taken my advice the guy probably would have gotten shot or at least shanked.

Not that there's anything wrong with that.

magazineman - I understand about the jealousy. I was with a jealous one for a while. She about drove me nuts. She wanted me to move into a new house she had on 8 acres with her. I finally agreed. The morning we were supposed to move in we got up a she started up on some stupidity. I believe I actually heard a click in my head & I knew as long as I was with her life would be like it was at that moment. I told her she had to go & offered to help her get her stuff loaded up so she could leave. I learned one valuable thing from that woman. I would rather be alone than be miserable.

Hey, maybe it's good if these jealous women stay out of the gun shop! She could have plugged me for my many imaginary affairs.
