USPSA PB March Madness 2016 - GoPro Hero4 Session Hatcam Video

After a 3 week long hiatus, I finally got to shoot a match. Did decently, some stupid mistakes that caused a couple of mikes. I am surprised that my weak hand shots were way better than my strong hand. Looks like all those dry-fire practice is paying off. Just got to keep on doing it.

My stage (#4), got thrown out because I specified the scoring type as COMSTOCK when it should really be VIRGINIA. Also, the fact that some squads shot the weak/strong hand while using the table as supports didn't help either. The MD had to throw the stage out.

I hope everyone enjoyed that stage, it tests skills that we don't usually use in the PNW.

USPSA Marysville March 2016 - Open Division (GoPro Hero4 Session Hatcam)

Very disappointed with my performance today. I did not have any dot discipline. I find myself just shooting through the C-more and not watching the dot. I'm lucky I even got 3rd place. Need to do better next time!

USPSA Renton March 2016 - Open Division Match Win (GoPro Hero4 Session hatcam)

Oh finally. I told myself after my dismal performance last week to focus on my dot and it paid off. Came out of the match with an Overall win. I finally understand what it means to have dot patience. call every shot and not worry about speed. The only two mikes were when I got lazy, need to not do that next time.

I guess this is my match mode. Got to keep it up.

USPSA Marysville April 2016 - Open Division (GoPro Hero4 Session hatcam)

I had a so-so day. Came away with a 2nd place finish despite zeroing one tricky but awesome stage. Short and fraught with peril. Had some issues with steel and lost some speed on some stages. Overall not very happy with my 84% finish, need to practice more!

Fun stages and amazing weather. We had 99 shooters show up which was great for the club but made for a long match.

Yeah that stage #4 was a bugger. I Zeroed as well.

Dave F from Paul Bunyan put 4 on that right swinger with 3 of them A's in the crotch of the 2 No Shoots.

He shoots either SS or Production.....Don't know how he does it.

Do you remember that time when everything went bad? When everything didn't seem to go right? Yeah that was today. I couldn't seem to focus on shooting and felt mentally distracted the whole day.

I am definitely regressing. Two more club matches before Area 1 and this is what I bring to the table. Gotta get back on the practice train.

USPSA Custer May 2016 - Mental Game Achievement Unlocked

Was a fun match today. The Custer Sportsmen's Club organized a match inspired by the upcoming Area-1 stages which was really interesting. It was a very close match against a buddy of mind JohnV from TN, we were trading 5-10points throughout the entire match until the last stage which became the deciding stage. JohnV edged out a better performance to win by 6 points total. Congrats on getting $1 richer

This match was a mental match for me. I told myself to ignore everything bad and good that will happen. Leave the stage as is and move on. I was trying to get into a place where I can focus on shooting and not let anything affect me, especially worrying about my times, scores and the need to catch up to someone else.

Although I didn't win the match and was slow in some stages, I am proud to say that I've learned how to get into the zone and shut everything out. Now all I need to do is to trust that this works and shoot my best game every time. (Thanks Steve Anderson)

USPSA Area 1 Championships 2016

I came in to this match with a mental objective. I used to be so affected by shooters around me, times and places in the standings that I didn't get to shoot my game. I ended up shooting someone else's game and that caused me to falter in my execution.

This time round I managed to keep it sound. I enabled "match mode", and called my shots. If I had a bad stage, I mope and swear but leave it behind. If I had a good stage, I celebrate and laugh but leave it behind as well.

This allowed me to shoot my game and I'm very happy to be able to achieve 9th in Open. There were some stupid things I did but I knew exactly how I got them. I called all my mistakes and identified what caused them so I will not do it again.

It was a fun and fast match with lots of options. Thanks to the SLUSPSA guys for putting together this major match.

Shoutout to my squad mates, SQUAD 40, Super Squad... D.

Our Indoor IDPA Match 17 MAY

Had our indoor match last night pretty decent time. Stage 5 was my best stage of the night ( Stage Win) 3rd Overall. I had one round that was over-length and needed a little nudge into battery but all in all a great time was had by all

What a fun and furiously fast match today. My total time for the entire match was 48 seconds! None of the stages were over 10 seconds. I still have match mode focus going which is great. Worked on transitioning and shooting faster which I did but had some extra shots here and there which should be eliminated. Just need to keep working on improving transition speed and shooting earlier.

I did wear my Mono Vision contact lens pair today and it worked well. It was a little disorienting in the beginning but it was great during shooting.

Virginia/Maryland Section Championship MUD match.

I took 7th, 88% of Phil Strader. I wasn't unhappy with my shooting, but looking at the results, I shot too conservatively.

ACPL Northwest Arkansas Championship IDPA.

I took 3rd in ESP SS, and 21st overall. Needed to take some better shots, but all in all was happy with how I shot.

Probably the best match I've shot in a long time. Not a very technical one, but I hit all my spots I think.

USPSA Paul Bunyan June 2016 Open Division Match Win

Took me four stages into the day to get rid of Speed Mode and enable Match Mode. We started on Stage 4 and the first 4 stages had a mike each because I wasn't looking at my dot on certain arrays. Had to learn how to re-enable match mode and trust that speed will come. It worked for the rest of the match and I luckily edged out a match win by 1 point.

Gotta get into the mode quicker next time.

USPSA Inland Empire Sectional 2016

My Father's Day present, to be able to go off for the weekend and shoot the 2016 Inland Empire Sectional Championships. It was a fun 9+1 stage Level 2 match shot at the Rattlesnake Shooting Facility in Benton City. I couldn't engage match mode for a few stages and I paid dearly in penalties. Still managed to edge out 3rd Open. Thanks to everyone who setup this match every year, I'll be back!.

USPSA Renton Series Match June 2016 - Match Win!! Open Division

What an amazing day to shoot, sun was up, wasn't too hot, great stages and lots of snacks/coffee. It's the series or points match held at the Renton Fish and Game Club. Had a momentary lapse in match mode but did well mostly. Came away with a match win. Thanks to everyone at DownZero for setting up this match!

2016 VA State IDPA Championship 24 JUN

Well, the match is in the books and Mumford Coldwater Shooting Sports Team had a blast...We shot 16 stages in one day. I was smoked. I had a decent match but, did not meet my expectations...I was 8th in CDP Expert and 104th out of 216 Shooters. By the end of the day my focus was shot and I made some stupid mistakes. Got my only procedural penalty of the day and 2 FTN(Failure to Neutralize) on the 14th stage we shot. I have to say flying in a private plane makes traveling with your firearm to a match much easier and a lot less hassle from the morons at TSA.you're going to notice that I go from stage 13 to stage 15, and yes there are 16 stages I have 15 recorded, I have a nice video of me standing up when I finished shooting stage 14 and walking out to check targets with the Safety Officers...trust me you're not missing anything. For your viewing pleasure...

USPSA - Technical Stages @ PB July 2016

'Twas a great battle in the Open Division today. Nick and I were back to back till the very end where a malfunction cost me the possibility of the match win. Great technical stages that I haven't seen before which makes it a ton of fun. Hope to shoot more stages like this in the future.
