It's getting a bit crowded in there. What works for you?

I've found that finding room for additional rifles is not always an easy thing to do, particularly if you have a majority of scoped long-guns. However, depending on your safe layout, I've been able to create extra space by placing some barrel down as opposed to having them all resting on their butts. Again, layout and the quantity/types of optics are going to play into this. Another idea is removing bolts, if the majority of rifles happen to be bolt-action. The quick answer, naturally, is: 'You need a bigger safe!' But, I know that's not always an option.

If applicable, remove all your ammo and mags to a lock box. If you have the room, put in a pistol shelf with an inexpensive wire rack.

I think I'm going to expand on the velcro/plastic rod thingy and make my own. A nice piece of baltic plywood and wood dowels. I've got a lot of time with this virus stuff. Thanks for the ideas!

If you empty it out, you will have plenty of room.

Get smaller guns? Getting another safe is only a temporary solution!

Yep, I have over 3 times the handguns than I do rifles and this works real well for me.

What can I do to maximize the rifle capacity of my safe?

Give me all your top shelf rifles, then you can mash the rest of them in tighter.

Seriously, my solution has been to buy another safe.

Someone else somewhere suggested if you don't want to spend the money, just get velcro strips, a felt sheet, and very narrow wooden dowels with the velcro stuck on the end. I guess it'd work for far cheaper.

Drill holes in the top of your safe and stick the barrels out of 'em. That ought to increase the inside space by approx. 50%

I alternate butt/muzzle down and alternate the orientation of the scopes. Bought me a little space.

You could put a locking doorknob and deadbolt on one of your closet doors. Makes for a fairly efficient overflow storage safe.
