Refinished FN HP

A guy locally has a nicely done refin HP (chrome lower blue upper) with several mags. Price is $800. I have a VG condition shooter assembled in Portugal but this refin will likely stand up better to my very salty skin.

Are refin FNs worth buying? I guess my heirs would likely dump it for whatever they can get so is the price fair or would I be better off just shooting the crap out of the blued one I have and refinish it if it gets ratty?

Given the condition you describe...$800 is a fair price. I rather doubt that "..salty hands..' is going to damage most finishes finish.

:-) You haven't seen blue metal get a red beard from my hands.

Anyway, I'm going to go and eyeball it, thanks all.

Personally I would not pay $800 for a refinish with it in mind that the pistol would hold its value for future sale. When I purchase a firearm the only issues I am concerned with is, do I really want it, what is the condition and is the asking price fair for the item offered. Resale does not enter into the deal nor does value to one who inherits it upon my demise concern me at all.
I would buy one of the $400 Israeli imports and shoot the beans out of it...if refinishing it was important to me a$160 Ceracoat finish still has me hundreds under the $800 mark and that finish is impervious to your salty hands. This HP has a Cerakoate finish.
