New Sights?

I've had my C-Series Hi-Power for about 6 months now.

I'm sure you've all seen this picture before,

My point is, all the mods that's been done so far are reversible
I still have the original grips and all the parts.
This is my EDC and I have no plans on getting rid of it.

What I would like, is some new sights. That means getting the slide milled.
I kinda like the Heinie sights with the gold bead front sight.

Here's the problem. I'm afraid it will lessen the value of the pistol if I get the slide milled.

The original sights are hard to see, I like fiber-optics but, they;re hard to see in a in-door range.

What are your thoughts?

That's a beautiful gun for sure. Here's my 2: Go for it. It's your daily carry, you can't see the stock sights and you have no plans to get rid of it, so it would be MORE valuable to you with new sights.

It's value doesn't matter to anyone else if it's not going anywhere anyway.

If you aren't going to sell it, then upgrade to what you like. You've already spent a tidy sum getting it where you like it. So, go ahead and put those Heinie' with the gold dot on. I have some on a T series and love them.

These sights are for my astigmatic vision needing a bigger front sight (Novak megadot) and a larger notch in the rear (10-8)

I believe the rear sight uses the standard Novak cut. If I did sell the gun, I believe there are many sights that can use the same dovetail if the future owner. No plans on selling though

Milling for new sights will probably require rebluing slide are you ready for that?

As long as it matches the rest of the gun, yes.

Anyone have a ballpark figure what sights, milling and bluing would cost?

One of my Hi Powers has a rear sight that the notch has been widened a few thousandths and surprisingly adds to a quick sight picture...I only use the pistols for informal shooting and had not considered the benefit to defensive shooting....worth a try if you have another sight available. My comment on bluing was made as rebluing several times tends to round lines and erode printing. Sorry about the photo was trying to take with I pad as I wiggled through sight alignment.

Go to Novak's website and you can sum up the cost. Mine cost about $215 + $15 shipping.

I need new sights

I recently acquired a 73 build HP that has those large adjustable sights. I would like something more suited to carry. Suggestions?

I like Heinie and Novak sights. The type of sights is then your choice.

Agreed, let your heirs worry about it :-)

I talked to my local GS at the range I belong to. He said milling the slide and touching up with cold blue would be $150.00 (he said very little bluing would be damaged, that's why he recommended the cold blue)

Plus the cost of whatever sights I decide on.

Seems like a fair price.
