Front sight for new Gold Cup National Match

Hello, I was thinking of replacing the front site of my Gold Cup national match with a fiber optic. I'm referring to the newer production national match, blued series 70, that has the serrated flat top. I usually get my sights from Dawson. My question is, has anybody put a fiber optic on this model and if so, what did you go with. My concern is that because of the flat top, the sights that dawson has listed may not fit properly. They don't have anything listed on their website that accounts for the flat top. I have emailed back and forth with them and they aren't 100% sure themselves. Would the flat top interfere with the way the front sight fits? Thanks for any advice. Brad.

What is your concern re the flat top?
My not-too-vintage 1991s have a small flat for the front sight, so I'd expect the Dawson, if it's for Colt pistols, should be intended for a flat surface.
The Gold Cup rib is not raised - the top-center is the same height above the bore as a round-top slide - so height should be the same.

Put some white paint or whatever color you see best on the back of the front sight and be done with it. That way you won't devalue or ruin a fine Gold Cup. I do that with most of my guns that have a plain front sight. At least try it. If you don't like it simply remove the paint.

Thanks RickB, I appreciate the info. And thats agood thought Hub1, I'll try the painting of the front sight first, and if I still don't like it, I'll order a front sight. Thanks.

I have painted the front sights on handguns for years! It works quite well & you can change colors to suit your eyes!
