Thread disappeared

Was viewing a thread on 12-12-2007 titled "karma" and it just disappeared.... weird. Not closed, just gone! Time for a tinfoil hat! I think tungsten was the original poster of this thread.

I just checked it to see how many posts it was up to for the free mags...the post count is also deducted...not that it matters, but I went to search for posts I made to see if I could find the thread again...poof...gone.

Next time please ask a moderator first if it's okay to post things like that. It bent many forum rules at once, but we'd probably have let it slide had we known what you were going to do.

Thread temporarily re-opened for further discussion.

Regarding vintage 1911s, pre-1970 pistols are highly collectible in original, unaltered condition and should NEVER be refinished or modified as it completely ruins their monetary value.

Does this mean the raffle is not going to be finished?

That's up to the original poster, now that we know what is going on. I can either re-open the original thread or he can start a fresh one (recommended).

We've always frowned on off-topic or wrong subject posts in General Discussion, WTS threads by members with under 45 posts, or members making "fluff" posts. The thread in question bent all those rules, despite the charitable intent of the original poster, which is why it was removed. This is why it's important to ask a moderator first, so that approval can be given and the thread started in the correct sub-forum. That way the thread doesn't get deleted and the moderator doesn't end up looking like Ebenezer Scrooge.

I would very much like to give these three mags away to someone here in the spirit of Christmas. A short "random" contest seemed like the fun way to do it.

If the mods / admin want to tell me how to proceed then I am still willing to do this.

*shrug*

Just yesterday we were draconian and over zealous. You should probably not publicly slam the forum Staff and then ask for a favor.

You're right. Just forget it.

And for the record, I didn't ask for a favor. I asked that the moderators tell me exactly how I needed to do it. A favor would have been me asking for a cup of sugar, or to borrow your car, or help me move a refrigerator up three flights of stairs. No, no favor was requested. Just a forthright explanation of how the contest needed to be handled.

Maybe you ought to have just kept quiet on the subject since the Admin had already posted.
