Colt New Agent 1911 45acp Questions

Would like some input on the Colt New Agent 45acp.

A buddy of mine has one and is wanting to trade me?

Are they reliable? More than likely it would just be my nite stand gun? Not for daily carry.

Anyone own one?

Would you own one?

Thanks!.

I had one, but sadly we parted ways. The gun worked fine. It's just that I'm old school and too used to using the front sight.

I have had one for about a year or two now and it runs like a top. I have the one with the Colt branded crimson trace laser grips. I had sent it back to Colt to have the sharp edges knocked down as i would bleed every time I shot it.

Its a great carry piece and is in my carry rotation. The trench sight takes a little practice but once you figure it out, its a piece of cake to use. I found you end up sighting through the slot at the end of the muzzle as opposed to looking down the trench. Once you get the hang of it you will be GTG.

Mine shoots anything I run through it. I wouldn't hesitate to buy another. In fact I did buy a Colt Night Defender which is the same basic defender based platform. IMHO Colt is the only company that has perfected the 3" 1911....they run like sewing machines!

I own one and it's a great gun for carry and a reliable shooter....simple rail sight, cannot snag on anything....makes for a good night stand gun also.....I recommend it!

I have its cousin the Defender in both 45 and 9mm and they have been fine. One thought is Colt no longer makes these although all of the parts you need to replace, like springs, are shared with the Defender, which still is made.

If you are looking for a sightless 1911 Compact you might look into a Detonics Mark VII.

I have NEVER been a Detonics fan. I only fool with Colt Automatic's and S&W revolvers.

I can't speak from experience yet, but have one the way. Mine has sights so must be a Talo. The consensus apparently is mostly all good though, go for it.

Great pistol! Unfortunately, I sold mine and keep the OACP. The big question is... what does he want of yours? You indicated a trade of some sort.

I've had one for awhile

Mine's been good..i don't shoot it a ton...has maybe 3000 rnds thru it
Close to 700 of those rnds were JHP ..Mostly 230 gr Ranger T, but also Gold Dots, Fed Hydro-Shok and HST

the sight trough is different .
if i was to do it over again, I'd of bought a Defender .
it's not that the sight ditch is unmanageable...it's just that all my other pistols have sights....and one "oddball" kind of screws things up for shooting anything beyond no sight pic/point shooting distance ...which is about 10ft and in for "me"

Unless he wants your nazi hi power, trade!
I had one and carried it for about 3 years everyday. Colt has the 3" 1911 down.
The trench sight system is genius for a self defense weapon. It hits point of aim, which is point of 'point' as it was designed to be.
Mine was 100% flawless with every round I tried in it.

They were discontinued last year, before the price drop from Colt;
What's out there are new old stock, so retail on them are higher than retail on brand new Defenders which wholesale for a lot less...
-if that made any sense...

I too have it's Defender cousin and love it, I'm still breaking it in but it shoots right where I want it to, and it goes bang every time.

I have owned one for several years, and it is my summertime EDC. I've never had a malfunction with either Speer Gold Dot or Federal Guard Dog.

I have had one since 2010 and its been on my hip everyday since.
It shoots everything I feed it, ball and JHP without a hitch and never failed once.

I don't have issues with the sight trench and got used to it quickly.
The gun shoots low of POA, but when presented quickly, the muzzle stands proud of the rear end and places shots where intended.

good deal- I was watching that one, too, but I didn't want one with sights.
That's a Talo version; not a ton of those out there. You did good.
