Holster compatibility

I have a couple of Askins Avenger holsters for a S&W and looked at the Galco site at the AA and it claims the fitment for the HP is the same for 1911's.

I found that in general my 1911 holsters "fit" the HP but with a little slop and I was surprised that Galco claimed that their AA was a direct fit for the HP and 1911's.

I'm not about to go on a roller coaster ride with an AA for a 1911 with my HP, so no worries of it dropping into a crowd below (I don't use the hammer strap) and actually I just about always carry IWB but looked at the AA for the rare times I wear a suit.

Has anyone found any 1911 specific holsters (The AA in particular) that fit the HP very well? It would open up a whole range of holsters at a less-than-gouge-me prices on "rare" HP leather.

I have a Bianchi 100. I purchased it for full size 1911's, but it does fit my FN HP's, Tisas Regent SS and FEG's like a glove. I am not sure if the 100 is "1911 specific holster", though.

Nice having one holster fit two different style of pistols.

For really nice and well made leather for the BHP, go no further than Privateer Leather. Wes will answer all questions.

I just ordered a holster from Wes at Privateer. Communication by email has been great. I’m impressed that he has an FM slide to accurately craft a holster for my Alloy Detective!

The Askins Avenger was a Bianchi product.
For a few years, a 1911 "AA" was the only holster I used with my Hi-Power.
The fit is very good.

I have 1911 leather from Null, Sparks, and Arratoonian in which I regularly carry my Mk III. In each case, the fit and functionality is as good as it is with my 1911s.

When new....the Bianchi holsters I buy....always seemed to be a bit tight....revolvers and pistols a like. So when I needed a holster for my Browning...I ordered a Bianchi Cyclone 111..labeled for a full size 1911....it was a snug fit for my Browning HP...but after a few days....it fit like it was meant for the Browning.

My holsters are all El Paso open toe Tom Threepersons. My two P35s will fit the holster for my 1911 Commander (loosely), but the 1911 is too big for the P35 holsters.
