1911 E Series mfg. date ?

I've got my 70th birthday coming up next week so today I bought myself a present.....a 1911E in 45 acp.

I'd like to get a rough idea of when it was made but I can't find anything on the internet.

The serial number is UFB73** and the slide is stamped, "S & W Springfield, MA"......unlike some I've seen that are stamped, "S & W Houlton, ME"

Anyone have a idea of when it was made ?

Did it come with the original box? If so check under the foam liner and see if the factory fired case is there, there is a date on the envelope the case is in. A quick call to S&W will also give you the answer.

Thanks for the replies.

No fired case so I may just go ahead and call S & W.

Thanks again.
