If You Were Going to Carry a DA/SA Auto...What Would You Pick?

Hey all,

Just curious about something.

Lets say you were going to pick a new gun for carry. You are limited to a traditional SA/DA pistol in 9mm. What would you pick and why?

If you are already carrying one, how do you like it and would you pick it again?

What say you?

Thanks all for your time.
Larry

I would likely carry what I did carry full time for several years, the SIG P226.

Smith & Wesson 3rd gen auto. Their DA triggers were really slick.

Avoid the temptation to replace everything on your brand-new 1911 just to make it "better". Know what you're changing out and why. You may spend a lot of money fixing things that weren't broken to begin with. Shoot at least 500 rounds through it first, then decide what you don't like and want to improve. Regarding vintage 1911s, pre-1970 pistols are highly collectible in original, unaltered condition and should NEVER be refinished or modified as it completely ruins their monetary value.

Sig Pro 2022, only around $500 new and you can get factory night sights. I love it. I like the Beretta a lot too.

I've owned several brands of SA/DA pistols over the years and the only one that I would carry is a SIG. I would opt for the P228 (W. German) or the P229. If it didn't come with a SRT, I would install one.

My 3 favorites are Sig, Sig and Sig. In that order.

I have a first year production 229 in .40/.357 with some custom work done that is by far my most natural feeling gun in hand, the DA shot is just as quick and accurate as SA so it would be my first choice.

Second would be a custom CZ.

I am quite fond of my Springfield XD Mod.2 sub-compact .45 ACP pistol. It is quite small in size and has a double stack magazine setup so it is 9+1 with the small mag. I have been thinking of getting a spare though. Just in case I am involved in a self defense shooting and they confiscate it for evidence.

Is this a typo? The OP is looking for DA/SA pistol comments. Isn't the XD Mod.2 is a striker fired gun?

XD Mod.2 http://www.springfield-armory.com/xd-mod-2-series/

The XD-E is a DA/SA gun though.

My first DA/SA was a Sig P226 and it probably has over 25,000 rounds with NEVER a failure of any kind in target, competition, or carry. After about 15,000 rounds I sent it to SIG for an Action job and SRT. It came back REALLY nice. For a weight saving I now carry an H&K P30sk some of the time also never a failure of any kind.
