Rock River Tactical model

Well I was pretty much set on purchasing this pistol until I emailed Rock River asking about the finish and they replied satin black Cerakote. I am not a fan of cerakote, especially after the USMCs problems with the finish on the Colts, but will still consider it if I can find a decent picture of the Cerakote finish. So far all I can find on line are of the older tactical models that were blued and the stock picture on RRAs website is horrible.
Does anyone on these forums have a newer model they wouldn't mind posting pictures of??

Did you ask them if they could put a different finish on for you?

It makes me sad that they started making 1911s again but have completely changed their models. When I got my Pro Carry you could get blued, satin chrome, or Black T. They all came w/Kart barrels and you could spec it out just about anyway you wanted with many different options. I can't imagine this line being very successful.

I agree. Back then 1911s were their bread and butter. I have an old Tactical, with a Black-T finish.

would you mind posting a picture of yours? I haven't seen one that isn't that extremely glossy looking blue they offered. Black-T might give me a better idea of what this satin black cerakote might look like

Look in the RRA Photo thread. It’s posted there, along side my Basic Carry.

I have a blue Limited Match and a 6 inch PPC with Black T finish. I got mine when he was just getting into 1911(2005 or 06?). He had a table at the PPC match in Jackson,MS. Both pistols are first class and great shooters. Visited the factory and was given a tour. Very impressed.

Found it and so far that's the best looking tactical I've seen. Called RRA today and asked what they have in stock. All they have are older blued models lol. The lady couldn't really say how long it would take to get a new model built so I told her I'll call back next month with money in hand. If the wait time is too long I'll probably look for something else.

Thanks. It’s beautifully crafted, too.

I'm surprised they have some of the old blued models still available. I wonder if they are the "good" old models from back before they stopped making them. They were fantastic 1911s. I love my black T Pro Carry. I always wished I would have got one of their blued models or a limited match when I had the chance. I looked at the specs and prices of their new offerings and I just can't see buying one. Sad.

I wish they still offered black T and hopefully their newer models are just as "good" as the old. Do any of those that own a RRA 1911 have any experience with their warranty? Their website talks about warranty on rifles but I see no mention of 1911s
