1911 GI sights

Just wondering if anyone is selling a rear GI dovetail sight that works with the low, rounded GI front sight. Was just to the range with my RIA GI 9mm with an "old" MMC rear sight (sight was gifted to me by a forum member when I was looking for one) & "rounded" GI front sight with some Testor white on it. Low profile, nice SD sight picture, accurate at 15 yds (& I have 75 year old eyes).
I had one on a 1977 Colt Gov't, worked well, & there wasn't the options available as there are now. Seems like a good inexpensive option for someone wanting a decent sight on an inexpensive GI 1911, knock out the old sight & install the new one yourself without having to change the staked front sight.

You might get some interest if you posted this in the Want to Buy sub-forum.

Not looking to buy, just curious. I've got a Harrison retro on my 5 yr old Colt, but that has the post front sight, had to get a new sight after cataract surgery as I kept opening the Colt sight with a needle file. Was wondering about anything for the "round" low height GI sight as there are quite a few low priced "old style" GI 1911s being sold now..

I would go to ebay, used specimens show up there every so often.

Kahr/Auto Ordnance also sells a GI-profile rear sight. As has been said though there are lots of take-off parts on eBay and Gunbroker.

Avoid the temptation to replace everything on your brand-new 1911 just to make it "better". Know what you're changing out and why. You may spend a lot of money fixing things that weren't broken to begin with. Shoot at least 500 rounds through it first, then decide what you don't like and want to improve. Regarding vintage 1911s, pre-1970 pistols are highly collectible in original, unaltered condition and should NEVER be refinished or modified as it completely ruins their monetary value.
