Go Advanced > Attachments is the easiest way to upload images.

Let us know if you have any issue with it.

imgur.com is a great free site for image sharing. I find it much easier to use than Photobucket. While the direct upload pointed out above works well, I like to keep copies of what I uploaded so I can correct my mistakes and re-upload. Imgur gives me that ability.

Imgur has TOS against using the site to host images for other websites, and they have been known to block entire websites from using their images.

If you want to ensure that what you post here, stays here, use the attachment manager.

I sent an email to support at Imgur as follows:

Is there any problem with me posting a link to one of my images on a forum? I have read your TOC and all my images comply with with what is allowed. However, someone told me I could not post a link to one of my images on a forum because your TOC forbade such linking,
Support responded as follows:

Hi,

Thanks for writing! I'd be happy to help you with this.

You can upload images by following these steps: https://help.imgur.com/hc/en-us/arti...-Upload-Images. After upload, you can hover over an image to get the share links for posting on a forum or sending to someone.

If you'd like to add images to your website or blog, we recommend using Imgur's embed unit to easily make the post visible. More information on finding the embed link can be found here: https://help.imgur.com/hc/en-us/arti...743-Embed-Unit.

You're welcome to use Imgur to host your images, as long as they do not break our Terms of Service (http://imgur.com/tos). Imgur's Terms of Service prohibits using Imgur for a content delivery network, hotlinking adult or illegal images, torrents, image hosting for selling things and/or commercial purposes, or sites which copy Imgur's own functionality. Imgur's intended use is not as a CDN, but rather as a platform to upload, share and browse entertaining images.

Please let me know if you have any other questions; I'd be happy to help.

Best,

Sara

Thanks for that, from that you can see that no image from Imgur can be posted in the
"Member's Market" of the site which is why we recommend using the image uploader here.

until it doesn't...

The problem with free hosting is you are at their mercy.

fyi there is a Chrome and Firefox plug in that has been working to circumvent the photobucket block. Last week it was working perfectly. They were trying to maintain the updates, not sure how well that's been going but it, might be worth a try.

https://chrome.google.com/webstore/d...flicjjgj?hl=en

I used it two weeks ago specifically to read and see photos of a tutorial how to on this forum and it worked perfectly then.

When Photobucket was working for all of us, I could upload a picture and get a set of characters to copy and then paste them into my thread here and it would show the FULL PICTURE. I am trying to do the same thing with IMGUR, but can get it to only show a small square with an x in it, or to post the LINK to the picture. Any way to get the FULL PICTURE to show up? Using the file manager from this forum, all I can get is thumbnails to show up.

When I log into Imgur.com using a computer and left click on one of my images, I get a screen that looks like this:

There is a menu on the right side. The second menu item is "Direct Link". Clicking on "Copy" copies a copy of the link to my clipboard. I then go to a reply I am creating (like this one), click on "Insert Image", right click in the box and left click on "Paste".

I had a hard time getting that menu to come up, but finally found it. Here is a try:

Not sure what you mean by 'platform', but I am using a desktop running Windows 7 and Internet Explorer.

That's what I meant by "platform". Just want to make sure we are working from the same starting point.

I can see what's wrong with your link above. Here is what it looks like when I copy it and paste it into Notepad:

http://https://i.imgur.com/wV20yQ3.jpg

Notice the http://https:// on the front end? If I edit that and use:

https://i.imgur.com/wV20yQ3.jpg

Here is what I get:

When you click on the "Insert Image" icon at the top of the post you are creating, here is what you should see:

You appear to be adding an extra "left click" when that box appears. Do NOT left click in the box.

There are two different ways you can proceed:

1. RIGHT click in the box and you should see a menu with Undo, Cut, Copy, Paste, Delete and Select All shown as choices. LEFT click on "Paste" the LEFT click on "OK". The link to the picture should then appear in your post.

OR:

2. The simpler way is to NOT click anywhere, but press the ctrl and v keys on your keyboard. The link to the picture will be entered in teh box. Then LEFT click on "OK" and you should have the link in your post.

It would still be very nice if we could post directly to the 1911 forum and have a large photo show instead of just a thumbnail. If that could happen, no one would have to use a photo sharing site.
