Suggestion

can we get sub forum stickys in the Ammo Can section, one for each caliber of ammo, this way it makes it easier to find/post about specific ammo, like say a awesome deal on just 9mm, etc.

maybe start with the 4 major categories
  • hangun 61
  • rifle 195
  • shotgun 37
  • rimfire 10

Midway has a good list of types, and i put the # of types above next to each name.
this way when i come looking for info or best deals on 9mm i have one ez place to find it, vs all ammo being co-mingled into one forum.

non-sticky posts in Ammo Can can then be about other things related to ammo, etc.

Hello there,

Thank you for your suggestion.
I would like to see if any more users within the community would go forward with this decision.
I wanna hear some thoughts and opinions! What do you all think?

Best regards,

Ed

you might need to put a poll in two places, here and Ammo Can, as i suspect not many come to this side of the site.

Hi,

I've reached out to the mods regarding your suggestion. Once we get a discussion going we can think about moving forward.

any update? i see site moving to create the new Safes forum. i think its the same issue in Ammo Can, a 22lr discussion quickly gets lost with discussions about brass vs steel, special LE 45acp, reloading, etc etc.

After some discussion among the mods, the general consensus was that sticky's aren't a super effective way to facilitate conversation. They get overlooked too much.

so just make them sub-forums under Ammo Can, etc.

Fair point, but again, would require feedback from the community. Thus far, most people don't seem to have a strong opinion about this, but it might be worth re-addressing. Anyone have any thoughts?

Cheers,

Erik

The Ammo Can is a sub-forum. How can you make a sub-forum in a sub-forum?

You can make subforums upon subforums but it can get very confusing and starts people down the rabbit hole.

As Erik mentioned, not many people have a strong opinion about this and if we have too many subforums it can divide the postings too much.

i can only share my experiences.

i find it annoying to come into Ammo Can looking for posts specifically about 22lr or 45acp (as example) and finding a huge list of co-mingled posts about lots of other ammo. to me, as-is, it hard to go in there and read posts just about 22lr, or 22mag, or 300blk, etc.

i mean look at it now, stickys, some closed, and a mish-mosh of posts of different ammo, range reports, etc etc

maybe post a poll about it to see what type of user feedback you get?

We can move the closed stickies to another section such as "Closed Stickies" or something along the lines of that. We see that this could be an issue for some users, but it comes down to if the mods and admins think it's a good decision to do so.

i totally agree.
it can also be done like this so not to distrb the existing posting format
in Ammo Can create a new sub "Specific Ammo"
under "Specific Ammo" create the ~50 or so caliber subs

this way, Ammo Can still looks/works the same but it will allow folks to drill down into a specific ammo if they want where they can follow stuff in say 9mm for everything 9mm related, etc.

if you created the ~50 caliber forums directly under Ammo Can then any posts made in Ammo Can itself would be pushed out of view because of all the caliber forums.

What do we think of this suggestion? I think we would need a broad range of views here as some people aren't fans of 'drilling down' too much. Once we hear back we can speak to the mods about the specifics.

thats a fair concern. as i noted it you would need to click into two folders just to find the specific ammo of choice, then one last 3rd click into that ammo folder.

however, thats the nature of ammo, a lot of different calibers, etc.

I've pass the suggestions along to the mod specifically assigned to the Ammo Can section. We'll see what they think
