Kimber Custom LightWeight LW

Team- I see there’s a big sale on the baseline LW 5” 1911s New at $589 from
An email blast I get. It’s a huge discount but I can’t find any reviews. And Kimbers website doesn’t list them. Anyone have thoughts opinions etc on these aluminum frame guns?
Are they a brand new offering or a old stock clearance item?
Thanks.
PS
Saw it on gun deals.com

I bought one 2 weeks ago for $589 and I say it's a great deal. I got the Stainless LW 45 model 5 inch barrel nice half checkered grips and no FPS. I see they now have 4 different models 1 all stainless 1 all black 1 stainless w/black small parts and 1 black w/stainless parts. Also 1 Stainless LW 9mm model so far and there may be other 9mm's to come. anyone interested in a LW Full size 1911 should check these out. And they're priced like the original Kimbers.

Looks to be a very good buy. Unfortunately it's not on the California handgun roster or I would be in line for one. I like alloy frame guns.

I had a LW 5" one time, wish I still had it. They are sweet to pack. It was a built up gun, I think an Essex frame.

These do not have the "11" on the slide. They do not have the swartz firing pin safety. They are not listed on the Kimber website but they are new current production full size alloy frame 1911s in 45acp and 9mm. Mine came with red fiber optic front site and 2 dot rear site full length guide rod and 1 magazine. The grips were half checkered rosewood but I switched to a set of Ajax Pearlite for the picture.

Bass Pro/Cabela's is advertising these along with an exclusive version in KimPro Tru Tan, black grips and black small parts.

Not on there website yet. I may have to get one of these.

Anyone fired this model yet? Can't find a review anywhere on line nor do they show on the Kimber web sight. Should be a good seller for them.

Never heard of these. Where do I find one? Bass Pro? Is this a clearance sale or a limited bargain run?

Try smga.com They have these for a good price. You can also look on gun.deals for other stores. I think Cabelas and Bass Pro shops carry these. I think these may be a limited bargain run as I just ran across these when I was looking at a Kimber CDP and the Covert Custom. I wanted a 5 inch full size LW 1911 without a FPS in stainless/silver finish and Kimber had just released this model and for a lot less $ than the CDP or Covert Custom.

Thanks for the help. I did more digging and learned a good bit. I want one, I really like lightweights and the idea of a full size LW for seriously less money than a CDP is very appealing. Especially since I would like to convert it to Super anyway.

SMGA was out of 9mms when I looked but I did find some on Gunbroker, albeit for more money but still a smoking deal.

Due to ALS my shooting days are winding down in a hurry. I have thinned the herd and it is hard to do. My shooting buddies help me a lot and I can shoot a few rounds but don't shoot the tight groups anymore. With that said I have one of these on the way. I can look at the blasted thing if nothing else. I will enjoy my friends shooting it anyway. Dumb to buy it but I did it anyway. You folks are some of the best and I have never met any of you face to face. Great people on this forum. Thanks to all of you!

Enjoy your gun. Tell us what you think of it.

My LGS did not have any but said he has two on order, probably both 45s. From what I have seen an "Arctic" model in 9mm floats my boat.

A full size steel 1911 is just too heavy for any extended carry for me, with these only being 3 oz heavier than my Pro Carry a LW would get more than just range duty at my house.

OLDGRAY, I assume these Arctic model 45s are non-ramped barrels, but can you confirm that ? Thanks.

It would sure be nice if they would make a model that did NOT have fiber optic sights.......every manufacturer, including Kimber is beating the FO horse to death.......some of us don't want fiber optics, and don't want to pay to change sights on a brand new gun.....

Fiber optics are easier to see, but I wish someone would make them ramped instead of square. Square ones tend to hang up on minimalic holsters like the Yaqui slide.
