First purchase was a Remington 700 BDL .308 when I was 11. This was back in the 70s in a small, Mid-West town. I worked on a several farms putting up hay, shoveling crap, etc and saved the $250 it cost, gave it to my dad and he went and got it for me.

Colt Python blued 6”. Traded a nice pair of speakers for it back in ‘78, used from a friend. First brand new gun was a Winchester 94 in 30 30.

A Ruger Standard pistol, .22 caliber, in Lexington VA, 1969. Someone in the family still has it but I don't know whom and they aren't saying.

Hi-Point JHP45. Had it for 6 or 7 years then sold it. Kind of wish I hadn't, it would have been worth keeping for the novelty.

Thanks for reminding me! I forgot about my Nylon 66....that was my first gun! It is an Apache Black model...still have it tucked away in the safe. The M27 was #2!

1973. First gun that I paid for myself was an Iver Johnson Model 57 .22 revolver that I bought in a downtown pawn shop. Paid $49 for it. It was horribly out of time. Couldn't hit a 2 liter soda bottle at 20 feet. It shaved lead so bad that I'd have lead specks all over my hand after firing 50 rounds.

I had that gun for 10 days. Went back to the same pawn shop and bought a brand new Ruger Standard Model for the same price. Unlike the Iver Johnson, I still have the Ruger. Much better gun.

The first gun I bought myself was a Marlin 336 30-30 I bought from my older sisters boyfriend in 1983. Sadly in 1985 I had another first & sold it to raise funds to pay the fine for the DUI I got. Fortunately I sobered up in '88 & started buying, accumulating guns again a year or so later.

The first gun that I actually bought for myself was a Ruger 10/22. I don't remember the year it was a long, long time ago. The first pistol was a Ruger Mark II. I still have both of them. They are still extremely reliable and have fired tens of thousands of rounds each.

Springfield 1903A3 30-06 bolt action war gun .
got it from my brother in law when he joined the Army .
Man was that thing accurate and a wicked kicking gun , you pulled the trigger on that rifle and you know it .
Wish I still had it today though , it would drop anything in it's sights with pain, lol .

Circa 1982, after I turned 21, I purchased a S&W Model 13 with a 3” barrel - just like the FBI carried. Or at least so I thought.

Dan Wesson .357 Pistol Pack

I bought it used from a guy I worked with in three payments. I worked with a group that shot competitively together so I joined in on the fun. They shot Metallic Silhouette and NRA Matches, I bought reloads from one of the guys. I left the company and moved.

I found a S&W 6”, 686-3, Classic Hunter at the LGS. It was Gorgeous! I swapped the pistol pack straight across, I know I lost money but didn’t care. I shot NRA at the local club until someone told me about Action Pistol aka IPSC. I shot my first IPSC match August of 1989. I never shot a NRA match again.

Classic Hunter is in the safe awaiting some custom work

I was nineteen when I got home from Viet Nam. My brother-in-law had a Ruger Super Blackhawk in .44 magnum that he let me shoot. He was in construction and short of cash. He sold it to me for $80.

My father's .22LR Harrington and Richardson rifle. Yes, he did not give it to me, I had to pay him for it. $90.

Probably more of the nonsense my mother caused at the time. She had issues.

My first gun was a old used Winchester single shot .22 when I was around 8 years old. The extractor was worn out and I had to pick the spent cases out with my fingernails. I used that gun for many years too. I shot many rabbits with it too. We ate a lot of rabbit at the time. I think the rifle was made before WWII. My mother actually bought it as a birthday present for me. I think my mother paid 8 dollars for it at the time.

My first purchase (18) was an engraved 20ga Browning Upland Special. 300.00 in 1993. My second was a Clackamas Kimber 1911 (1997) when they first came out. Still have both.

My first firearm purchase was a brand new S&W model 29 with 6 1/2" barrel. I admit that I was slightly influenced after having watched "Dirty Harry" and I wondered what the recoil was like. A couple of years later I traded it toward the price of a brand new Colt Python. Another year or two and I traded that Python on a brand new Colt SP01 carbine. That was my dumbest trade/sale of any firearm that I ever owned.

I bought my very first gun when I was 13 in 1985. It was a bolt action Savage Steven .22. We lived in a small town and we new the owner of the local sporting goods store very well. My mom took me to the store and we looked through his catalog and he ordered it. He had very few guns in the store. I had worked picking corn for the summer to earn money to buy it. I paid $120 for it. I still have it today and I will never sell it.

I had a couple as gifts but the first one I bought with my own money was in 1978. 18 years old. Brand new Colt Python in the incredible polished blue of old. It was an ENORMOUS expenditure for an 18nyear old. Still have it. It is still pristine.
