Ruger SR1911 9mm Target

I'm leaning towards one of these & looking for some feedback from owners.

Both of my SR1911's are in 45, 5" & CMD, neither one is a target model. I do have a Colt Competition in 9mm and both of my SR1911's will out shoot my colt. I've been thinking about getting one in 9mm myself. I've been impressed with the SR1911's. Good luck.

Have the 10mm Target. Was surprised that Ruger used the bushingless bull barrel and FLGR in their 9mm target. The 45ACP target uses the normal barrel with bushing and guide rod and plug. The bushingless barrel makes my 10mm more of a pain to field strip. Ruger gives you a little pin to put in the FLGR or one could just bend a paperclip I would suppose.

I have 5 inch all steel target pistols in 9mm in the form of a Colt GCNM and a SA RO. They have almost no recoil. I would think the added weight of the bushingless bull barrel and FLGR would give the Ruger even less recoil.

I have the 9mm Target and love it. I am a 45 and 10mm man and was all prepared to not like this gun. Because it was a 9mm. I mean my CZ's are all 9mm and I enjoy them. But I was of the opinion that 9mm and 1911s were not compatible. But cheap ammunition was a big draw to the 9mm. I have only had my 9mm Target for a couple of months but I can truly say I am amazed at its accuracy. Maybe I just got lucky in the pick but I coud not be happier with the way it functions and it's ability to hit targets. Repeatedly hit shotgun shells from 5 feet to 20 feet no problem. Tin cans and clay birds at 50 yards.
I had only one problem. That was a jam, FTF. A little tuning on the extractor and I have not had a single jam since then.

I know that this thread is about the Ruger, but a couple of years ago I bought a Kimber Stainless Target II in 9 mm. Similar to the Ruger, mine is a 5 inch bbl 1911 with Adjustable rear sight and I love it. So little recoil and outstanding accuracy, it's my favorite 1911 pistol. I think you would be happy with the Ruger 9 mm Target.

I have a Colt Competition 9mm. It is a very nice gun, but I think my Ruger Lightweight commander 9mm will out shoot it. Both are good guns. From what I've seen all of my SR1911's are very accurate. JMHO

Well Delta-3, did you buy one and how do you like it? Bud's received my Cashier's Check yesterday and I'm awaiting shipment.

I have a modest collection of 1911's and "close" to 1911's (Springfield Armory A-1 with adjustable sights, SA 4" Champion, SA EMP (40 S&W), one Kimber Ultra Carry II, two 5" Colts, one Remington R-1, one Taurus PT1911, one Magnum Research, one GSG 1911 (22 lr) and a Sig P938 and Sig P238. This Ruger will be my first "full size" 9 mm. I wanted one that I could adjust the sights on and shoot the heck out of for practice. I'm sure hoping I'm not disappointed!
